I am a huge poschl user, but I have noticed over the past few months one of my favorits, Appricot, has started to give me some trouble in terms of plugging mr right up.

Can't open Viking tin

I have a 25g tin of Viking Dark. I can't get it open. The top does not come off like it would on a tin of Taxi even if I use more force than I think I can safely use without spilling half the snuff when it pops open. It also won't twist off like the top of a Toque tin.

Am I missing something?

Since some of us have massive collections of snuff, it can take awhile to reach the bottom of any particular tin. I find that if I focus on a few, I can actually empty them!

So today, for me I finished a 10g tin of Wilsons of Sharrow Tangerine.
Good, but maybe not one to get again for some time.

Would it make sense to go over the old reviews done about the Sam Gawith and Gawith Hoggarth snuffs in the tap boxes and substitute those reviews for ones about the 25g tins and tubs? Or maybe make notes to add to them so that one knows which package format a review describes? Just a thought...

Found something that helps with the sinus congestion:

1.)Press the tongue against the roof of the mouth

2.)Press finger between eyebrows

Give it a few seconds and you should start to feel the snot start to loosen up.

Apparently it moves the Vomer bone back and forth?

We have just received a bunch of De Kralingse spices. These are not snuffs obviously, but I couldn't resist. You can find them here: SPICES

I figured that since we all obviously enjoy the finer things in life, then these might be a welcome addition to our respective kitchens.

I have also reorganized the snuffs by tobacco leaf type. You will notice that we now have several flavors of Latakia which we only had in Virginia previously. This was by request. I had failed to noticce (my bad) that several flavors come made from different base leaf. For example there is choco and choco-L.

Here's a translation of the relevant page from De Kralingse website. I'll leave it to you to sort out the google translation.

The wind at ground spices are ground in a frenzy so-called corridor. The result is a tenfold production in a single machine is not half as large as the frenzy state of The Star, but at the expense of taste and smell of the spices. The nice thing about the frenzy going on that is clearly visible how the grinding process is, For example, different from the milling of grain which is in a closed tank occurs.

Just cracked the Makla Ifrikia open, this has got to be the weirdest snuff I have seen, it's like a cross between mud & dung,it's dark grey in color, super moist, super strong and very difficult to get in your nose...

So apparently at Mr. Snuff NOW it costs LESS to buy TEN 25g TINS than it does to buy 260g BULK!!!! WTH is up with this?
I saw the post about this I guess last week but this is RIDICULOUS. It went from $30 to $50?????

So my question is- DO I (living in the US unfortunately) HAVE ANY OTHER OPTIONS?
I've been waiting to make a bulk purchase but it looks like I'm gonna have to just wipe out the 25g stock.......................

HEY EVERYONE! I know you have missed me! ;) I've been really busy with a new job and whatnot so its hard to contribute but I will when I can! I'm always here reading, not always typing.

I was curious- any snuffers here from TN or neighboring states in the US? If so, I'd like to meet up or something- possibly do some trading, have a drink or two, take/try some snuff... you know. If anyone is interested or nearby gimme a shout on here!

The mention of no religious discussion on another thread set me wondering. Are there any Masons out there? (Apart from me, that is.) Just about the only time I ever see anyone apart from me produce some snuff is at Masonic dinners... What put me on to this train of thought, by the way, is that one of the customs of English Freemasonry is that you don't discuss religion or politics at Lodge Meetings!

My sense of smell is gone

I've had the flu for the past week, and was using snuff during that time no problem with the scents being strong despite a blocked nose for the most part, and now, for the last 2 days my sense of smell is completely gone even though my nose isn't blocked anymore. The only difference between all my snuffs is the texture. Even my strongest smelling snuffs SG Plum, Cheese & Bacon, Berwick brown, 6 photo etc have no scent to me. The menthols don't smell either but they do have the burn.

Anyone had that happen before?

I'm curious if anybody has tried these guys? They have pipe tobacco, cigars, chewing tobacco, etc. I stumbled upon them while trying to find a place to buy chewing tobacco online. I ordered one of their chew samplers that lets you pick 3 different kinds.

Their site states: From the hills of Tennessee, Kentucky, and the good earth, we offer you the best custom chewing tobacco blends and dipping tobacco blends found anywhere. We pull out the sticks, stems and
limbs. We also stock a variety of imported nasal tobaccos , and even non-tobacco products to keep you satisfied when you can't take a chew. And of course a full line of spittoons and accessories.

Their nasal tobacco section is empty. PACT? Their chew section intrigued me so I ordered the smaller sample and chose these flavors.
Connecticut Broadleaf Chew

...An "Old Time" lightly flavored chew with more of a natural taste. (Like the old Beechnut)

Mountain Man Chaw

...NEW...A Great all around flavor.

Rocking Chair Chew

...A long lasting flavor with a hint of Date, Walnut, & Honey ~ very Red Mannish!

They sound good. I'll report back after I receive and test them to give my opinion. Anybody try any of their tobacco products? Or ever heard of them?

This is a light brown, demi-gros snuff with medium nicotine - basically the standard Wilsons flour that many of their snuffs are based on. The sherry flavour is very light and probably most users would be unable to distinguish sherry in a blind tasting, but the flavour is distinct - if not immediately recognisable - and is very pleasant. The most accurate description I could give would be a slightly tart, berry like flavour. If you spend a day in it's company you could find yourself falling in love with it and when I got my half-pound jar I ended up using it exclusively until I got to the last 50g or so. At which point I made a half and half blend with some WoS No 20 toast, which proved to be a good move as it gave some character to what I consider to be a very undistinguished and misleadingly named toast (it tastes exactly like an SP). So, it is also a useful blending snuff and would rejuvenate any plain, medium snuff that had been allowed to dry out and lose flavour. If you had a small amount of snuff that did not warrant an attempt at re-hydration I could see this bringing it back to a useable level without the need to add water as the sharp flavour would breathe some character into it . This is a good snuff to have in your collection and would suit a rotation that had SP, toast or US Scotch snuffs dominant in it.
