Have you converted anyone to snuff? Or intoduced anyone to snuff?
On sunday afternoons I work in a garage fixing cars. There's a 17 year-old kid - I Should say GIANT though, this "kid" is Friggin' Huge - who works there off-and-on. He smokes, so one day I offered him some snuff. Had to go through the "usual" explaination of what snuff is, how to use it, etc. And of course he had the "usual" reaction. I got a good kick outta watchin' him cry like a baby (did I tell ya he's Friggin' Huge - 'Andre the Giant' Huge) Anyways I thought that was that. "That" was a couple months ago. Then this past Sunday when I open up my smash box he just walks over and takes a pinch like he's been doin' it all his life. No tearin' up, no sneezin', heck, his eyes didn't even git red! Guess he's been doin' it behind my back. 'course I had 4 pinches to his one, but none-the-less I think I mustta converted him.
I have introduced snuff to quite a few people. Only 1 person uses snuff on a fairly regular basis but the only snuff he uses is Tube Rose. The others are once in a while snuffers mainly when I'm around. Most are contempt with their smokes or lip tobacco. I try to keep the introductions to people who are already users of some form of tobacco but not all the time. I don't really want to get someone on tobacco & nicotine who is doing fine without it. But if someone asks me about it I will offer a pinch wether or not they use tobacco already.
I've also introduced quite a few people to snuff. Only one friend has actually made a big order from mars. Another friend has had me add things to my orders. A few of the others aren't regular snuffers but when I'm around it doesn't take long 'til I hear "got any snuff?"
Definatly most of my friends use snuff when I'am there and actualy sometimes I'll give them an old tin that's almost empty and it will slowly disapear. Though I did introduce one person who now uses somewhat regularly. Gave him a pinch of bordeux and he didn't have a smoke the rest of night and was chain smoking before that. It's always a good feeling to get someone useing more snuff and less cigerattes.
I'm a little anti-social and don't snuff in front of my wife so I really only offer it at work. There's a few takers but usually people look at me as if I'm trying to poison them. It seems a little hypocritical to me when I see them sucking on a cig.
Two full time users and a bunch of folks who will have a pinch when I'm around, and a guy at work is just going through his first can of OandG which I gave him, Ive told him about plain and flavoured snuffs now and I think there might be a Toque convert on the way. We are mostly all tobacco users in my office so I'm working on em slowly
While I've offered pinches and little zip locks of snuff to maybe a dozen people in the past year, my "apprentice" Verne, (who already chews and dips in moderation) is the only one to develop a real liking for it. His favorites are crumbs of comfort, stokers sweet and a couple of my creations from the " snuff lab".
I have offered pinches to anyone who want to try it at my work. Two of the guys there have asked me to add a tin of snuff on my next order for them. There is one guy there with the usual attitiude of his cigs are OK but my snuff is garbage. I figured I would let him try some Rooster! So I told him how its from the same company that makes Cope and Skoal, both of which he does sometimes. So instead of a pinch he dips his pinky finger in the tin, gets just a little dust that sticks, and trys to sniff it. Next thing I know he is turns red and starts coughing up a lung. He was there spitting up and getting sick for like 10 minutes. I know he will never be a convert but ohh was it good fun for me.
I haven't really 'converted' anyone but plenty of people have taken a pinch out of my snuffbox.
A nurse I work with is a smoker but she doesn't always get the chance to go outside for a ciggie when we're really busy so I give her a pinch of snuff every now and again to 'keep her going' I bought her a tin of McChrystals S'NUFF to take with her on long plane journeys where she can't smoke and she uses it every now and again but mainly she smokes cigarettes.
My dad has tried some, most of my in-laws have too. I have one friend who is a smoker but he won't touch snuff at all. Every time I take a pinch he just looks at me like i'm mad. He's probably thinking 'if you want a nicotine hit why don't you just smoke?' He can't understand it at all.
Snuff is not taking off in my small town in Ontario, Canada. Everyone thinks I'm taking a rail.......... I try to explain it but, alas, they puff away on the cheap native reserve smokes and tell me my nose will fall off later in life. I don't even bother to rebut. I've had 1 person take a sniff of my toque menthol because they said alergies were bugging them. i figured it would clean out the sinuses. I'd didn't figure on almost killing them...lol!
My wife hates the stuff....... but I quite enjoy it to the point where i rarely even use my pipe now. Maybe once a week in the evening i'll pack a bowl of Chocolate flake. But i'd much rather snuff toque chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nightcap, It's not the snuff that kills people, it's the person holding the tin! LOL! I think I've converted 100's, but I'm probably barred from entering this game.
30 cities in 30 days, I wish! Did 10 in 12 days, when I was in the wine trade. All my meals came on plastic trays and it got to the point where I hated "Howard Johnson".
i converted no-one. but i introdued snuf to some people. for some it became what it is for me: something very enjoyable they use once in a while. for some it became a suvstitute for smoking, but they all said they are so used to cigarettes and the feelig-the-cig thing that they are unlikely to quit smoking.
still, i think its the once-in-a-while enjoyment that is the healthy way to deal with drugs (not only tobaccom also alcohol and other things ^^)
