I've just made my first online order of snuff. But on reviewing my order I'm wondering if I just ordered the same versions of other flavors. Since you guys here have tried so many more flavors than I, could you please critique my order. I really tried to cover a lot of ground with variety but did I actually do this or did I just order the same flavors basically, just different makers?

    I ordered:

    Wilsons - Royal George
    FT - Princes Special
McCrystals - Highland Ice and Violet
    Honey Bee sweet american snuff
    Poschl - Packards club
    GH - Whiskey and S.P.

Did I actually cover some ground flavor wise or are some of these basically the same?

I havn't tried all of those on your list but just thinking about what they are described as I think you got a good range of snuff! I have tried Royal George which I wasn't to fond of but is different then most. McCrystals Violet is good if your into that kind of scent. Any sweet or Scotch American snuff is good in my books! I like but don't love the S.P. versions of snuff but it is definantly a keeper. Packards club is the one Poschl snuff that stands out from the rest in my opinion. It has this very strong scent to it that is described by everyone as a masculine flavor which is a pretty good description. I think your order will keep you happy for a little while.

The Packards Club is fantastic, I also really like the GH Whiskey. The Royal George is either a love or hate kind of snuff, I do not care all that much for it, but do take a pinch of it every now and then. The McC's Violet has really grown on me, I didnt like it much at first. The Princes Special is a good snuff, just can tend to be a bit too moist and takes some getting used to. The Honey Bee is good as far as sweet scotch snuffs go (I personally am a Tube Rose fan). Overall you got a decent variety and should be happy with your order.

I've tried every snuff you ordered and no 2 are even close to the same. Extreme variety in your order if that is what you were shooting for no doubt.

Good order with some real snuffing classics on it. The Fribourg and Treyer was originally made for the Prince Regent a couple of hundred years ago and although its made by Wilsons these days they apparently use the exact recipes, and the others have a lot a flavour variations. Probably the most striking is the Royal George, which I agree you will either love or hate

same with packards club you'll either love or hate that one. I find that I mostly hate it every once in a while I'll take a pinch but mostly think it's extra super duper nasty.

Thanks for all your input. I've tried the Packards and really grew to love it so I ordered more but all I can get in my area's locals shops are the four or five most popular poschl products and Levi. THAT'S IT. Don't get me wrong, I love my poschl cola, raspberry, cherry, presidente, packards and apricot. However, except for maybe the packards, there's a common thread in terms of flavor in all of them. Plus some stores carry this, some stores carry that so I gotta drive all over the place just compile some variety. I'm so glad I was able to get a diverse order together.

Kim - Winn Dixie? too funny, I rememer those and Piggly Wiggle stores, same kinda deal. Alas, I no longer reside in The Great Republic Of Texas, do miss her, especially the south central hill country of Kerville.

Has anyone tried Railroad Mills sweet scotch?

    Big D,

Glad to hear you are enjoying your order. I have to agree with you too, if you read what I first wrote above I too think Packards club is the only Poschl Snuff that to me really stands out and tastes different. All the others ones have their pros but they do taste alot alike. I really have enjoyed Packards club. Do you know what I was talking about now about the masculine taste? That is what makes it different.

The only Railroad I have tried so far is Checkerberry and it is OK. It reminds me to much of toothpaste though. I have tried Navy Sweet and I like it but not as much as the regular Scotch types.

I am in love with McChrystal's Violet. The scent is very intense, but I can't compare it to anything else. Very, very strong in nicotine, too. This is a snuff I only use occasionally, but I absolutely love it.

Railroad Mills Sweet is worth a try. But I like all the American snuffs. Its less sweet & more smokey than the Honey Bee you ordered.

    Here's the skinny,

FT - Special princes - there are lots of flavors to this one and it all kind of blends together to make one particlar taste sensation. Very course, kind of rich.

Wilsons Royal George - I love this stuff. First it's like old talc powder but after continued use I find a silkiness to it that's pretty darn yummy. Vanilla and Violet predominate but the tobacco taste is there too.

McCrystals Highland ice and Violet - Same fine dry type as is McCrystals
other snuff. Good, straight ahead flavors.

H&T - Whiskey - it's strong and overt like a good whiskey but it fades into a nice burn. Very, very good snuff. Got some SP from them too that's a good plain somewhat toasty tobacco scent.

Packards club - I love this snuff. Just delicious. Cologne but with so much else going on flavor-wise. Hits the spot.

Honey Bee - Good sweet american snuff. Goes great with Gawith Cola. It's desert food.

    I need more though....
