Here is another strongly mentholated Wilson's snuff, as indicated by the name. Avery similar grind and moisture content to SM 500, that is to say, fairly fine and lightly moist, showing a bit of clumping in the tin. The color is noticeably darker than the SM 500 however. The tin aroma is interestingly not as strong as SM 500, it is still strong menthol, but sweeter somehow and a bit more subdued. Upon taking a pinch, the sweetness becomes very apparent to me, but is quickly overblown by the strong menthol flavor. As this menthol tapers of a bit after 20-30 seconds, the sweetness of the tobacco comes back out and balances the menthol nicely. This is another fine menthol that does not clog the nose due to it's fine grind, and for me it is very pleasant. I am an inveterate menthol supporter, so some may find this too strongly mentholated for their tastes, but I quite like it. I prefer it over SM 500, mainly because of this sweet flavor that I cannot define the source of. It complements the menthol, and is reminiscent of a mint patty. If you like a strong menthol snuff, this one is a winner!

    Aloha,

It even did not clog up your nose after a while? I experienced, that strong mentholated snuffs take a while to clog mine up. Maybe my nose is just to sensitive when it comes to menthol.

I haven't experienced any major clogging from any of the Wilson's menthol snuffs. It may be due to personal differences, if so, I empathize with you and your clogging. The Poschl snuffs are another matter entirely. I almost always need to blow my nose before I am done enjoying them, as I take rather large pinches, and the clumpy, moist and coarse nature of their snuffs clog me up after 20-30 minutes.

    Aloha!

Wanted to add my .02 to this review. I got a 10g tin the other day to try out as my first "real" experience with a full power mentholated snuff.

The description on Mars' webpage says it's menthol, eucalyptus and camphor. Like Justin, I also noticed a very sweet flavor and find it to be pretty complex. The menthol is of course #1 in the recipe but the sweetness comes through very strong also. For some reason, this snuff gives me quite a boost...I don't know if it's an actual nicotine boost or just a feeling from the ingredients. I like it quite a bit. It could never be an all day snuff for me, but as an occasional "eye opener" in the morning it works really well.

I recently bought a 10g tin of this after trying the Wilson's Cherry Menthol and being really happy with it. I especially picked out this flavor for the menthol content since I find that I recently enjoy the extra sensation of mentholated snuffs. When I opened my tin it had a strong ammonia type smell to it so I'm thinking I need to air it out a bit. The menthol is pretty strong and the nicotine seems to be stout as well. Still haven't gotten any of the reported sweetness out of it but I'm hoping as it ages a bit it might stabilize. At first I was concerned that I had purchased a pure mixing snuff but after having read the above posts it seems this snuff can be taken straight. It doesn't seem to deliver well in my bullet and tends to clog it somewhat, may have to use plain old pinching. Oh well, I'm satisfied so far with it and feel I got what I paid for.

Wilsons Menthol Plus has been my favorite for some years now. Apparently it is the closest snuff to the great old Dr. Rumleys Mentholyptus snuff. I think its one of the finest menthol snuffs available today. Definately one to try.

Felt the need to post a follow up on this. After a bit of airing, my tin has come about nicely. The flavor is really coming through strong and the mixture is even bullet feeding just fine now. This stuff is great, really grows on you fast. I can't quit sniffing it up. I'm getting that "sweetness" you guys described, or rather something along that spectrum. There's still a ton of other snuffs I want to try out but I plan to always have a supply of this around.
