I have seen another thread here recently in which a member relates the story of the time he was fishing and a load of snuff got blown into his eye giving him one hell of a hit...

I was just sitting at my desk at work when I decided to take a pinch, somehow or another (don't ask me how) a small amount of my Lowen-Prise managed to find its way into my eye, I didn't get a hit but my god it stung!!!

My eye feels weird now...hope that feeling doesn't last long!

Okay guys know one mentioned to take care of flying snuff. Sorry to hear about your I Lazarus (great name by the way).
What is the course of action when it gets in your eyes? Rinse with water continuously. As I make my way around the forum
to different threads. I’ve read about it hitting the back of your throat, sneezing episodes anything else to be careful about
and the remedies? What other odd things can happen! Oh and people saying something about how there head felt like it was going to blow-up.
From Members photos I’ve seen people who seem to have a very small pinch tightly between fingers. To one photo where it was lad out on the back of the hand like a line. I’m guessing it took that Gentleman time to get to the point of using that much.

Lazarus I hope your eye feels better. Any other funny or freak accidents someone can recount?

Hi Kim, glad you like the name!

I didn't bother rinsing my eyes as the stinging subsided after a few moments and the strange feeling went away quickly, I guess our eyes are quite good at cleaning themselves most of the time when we blink :o)

There is a knack to using snuff which makes it more enjoyable to do I think, its not difficult to smoke a cigarette and there isn't really a skill involved but snuff taking is definately an art form! Yeah some people pinch the snuff between their index finger and thumb and sniff, others use the back of their hand...or there is always your 'anatomical snuffbox' ;o) as for sneezing etc that can also be quite common especially when you are starting out. I've only been using snuff for about a month myself and I was never a smoker either. I've had it in the throat a couple of times, coughed, sneezed and had it in my eye but its just a case of practicing my technique and finding the right snuffs that suit you. Just play around with the different snuffs and techniques.

When you buy snuff try and look at whether or not the snuff is dry or moist. In my personal experience snuffs that are slightly moist are easier for beginners as the really dry, finely ground snuffs can shoot straight up your nose and cause a coughing fit if you are inexperienced.

For example; I can sniff Gawith Apricot all day long and have no trouble because it is fairly moist but I have to be much more careful with McChrystals Mild Lemon as it is dry and fine and if I sniff too hard I will pay for it!

Have fun experimenting and soon you'll have a collection of different snuffs which can grow to include dry snuffs when you get a little better at the technique...happy snuffing!!!

I wish I could count the times I've splashed my eye with a dash of snuff; well, actually no I don't. That would be embarrassing.

It usually happens when I bring a pinch up to my nose while holding the tin beneath and accidentally breath a little too heavily out after the pinch in my right nostril and blow a bunch up into my eye before I can get my second pinch to my left nostril.

It happened to me once, while driving. Had the window cracked and was taking a pinch of Square while driving with one hand. Not a good idea. Now only use toque bullets while driving. Very dangerous, lucky for me it only got in one eye and not both as I am sure I would have wrecked.

For right now I seem to be doing okay. But I'm sure it's just a matter of time before I get it in my eye and freak straight out. Sure to be know surprise a lot of black people don't like swimming. I will not open my eyes under water. It just doesn't feel natural at all. I can not stand for shower water to get in my eyes. I better if my eyes sting bad enough I'll learn to love it. Visine Pure Tears - 32 Single Use vails would be perfect to put in the car, pocket, etc just for those accidents.
The Honey Bee Sweet Snuff is dry and fine to me. But then again It's the only snuff I've actually inspected. I must say I took it to the head like a pro. I just pinched it tight between my fingers and went for it.
I do know I don't care for the can it comes in. I've got to work on getting a snuff box. Everyone has sent me to some really fine places to look.

The other 2 snuffs you ordered will come in an easier to carry box and will have a small dispensing hole on the top. All you do is tap a little snuff out onto back of hand and either pinch from there or sniff right off back of hand.
