OK, in my daydreaming I spotted a link someone posted to an old snuff poem which is rather good, if a little dated:
    http://www.isle-of-man.com/manxnotebook/manxsoc/msvol16/p237.htm

So I've decided to write my own 21st century homage to snuff. Anyone else who would care to post their 'odes to snuff'?!!

My 21st Century Ode to Snuff

"Snuff!" he said, to clear confusion,
"It's just tobacco, but in profusion..."
The oldest habit on the planet,
    why do folks misunderstand it?

Snuff is but the simplest pleasure,
For up each snozzle in equal measure,
Comfort I find in your scented charms,
Like a baby in it's mothers arms.

From menthol to plain, dark to light,
The variety is where I take delight,
One day Hedges the next SP,
Choice is great 'coz choice is free.

In all the places where I have travelled,
My hanky is first to be unravelled.
    Keys, wallet, phone (and snuff),
    Musn't forget the sacred stuff!

So now the smokes are gone for good,
I can breath just like I should,
Gone are lighters, ash and fags,
bring on tissues, tins and bags!!

Thats a really nice poem, I like that!

I'm not much of a poet so I won't participate but I can appreciate good poetry when I read it!

Great poem, the middle stanza just lends its self to tweaking.

From menthol to plain, dark to light,
Variety is where I take delight,
One pinch of chocolate then toffee ,
Toque snuffs are great for choice you see.

Forgive me Snuffolly, I just couldn't resist.

    You're forgiven Roderick!
In fact, the very last word is a nod to Toque.. no-one else does snuff in bags do they...?!
And for all our US cousins 'fags' are cigarettes, not those who are persuaded by a spot of light uphill gardening...

    Great poem snuffolly.

Yeah your line "Gone are lighters, ash & fags," would raise a lot of eyebrows & might be considered a hate crime here and get you tarred and feathered. Especially if the poem circulated to San Francisco. You would then have to spend a year in some sort of tolerance class just to settle everyone down. LOL

Really nice. But I don't think Toque is the only one delivering snuff in bags. Macalpe does the same thing and I just cannot forget when SJ hit my mailbox.

Troutsroker - we could really get ourselves in trouble in your neck of the woods, imagine Brits proudly shouting, in a SF bar or pub, about how we had thrown the fags out of our pubs, ground them under our heels and now lived a clean life! We could then ostentatiously sniff some brown powder before being thrown into jail.

snuffster, Don't know if you would make it to jail. The Rainbow Coalition might just fit you with cement shoes & drop you off the golden gate bridge!! LOL
