    Hi all!

Been 3 days since I finished off those last smokes! Have not been on computer for those three days as that is
a "trigger" for the "bending of the elbow"

Feeling pretty good now however, and enjoying being around people and not having to worry if I offend them by
    smoking!

it'll get easyer. i quit the death sticks with snuff. in my case it was instant because by that point i desired the nicotine far more then the cigs because i was couphing up the nasty. my fav part of quitting is that everything of mine does not reek and taste and smell again. pretty soon ur foods will be much tastyer then before.

they are just jealous that you might not smoke like they still do. I didn't even try to quit smoking I just found my self going more and more smokeless and having less and less cigerattes as I went on. I would just find myself having more times where I'd nic and think man I want a pinch of snuff. So you guys got the cat in the bag already in my opinion. If it happens with out trying trying will just make it happen faster and be slightly more of an ordeal.

I just couldn't believe how much snuff helped. I'd tried patches and gum, the works, but snuff really does hit the spot when you want a smoke, you just kind of need to adjust your mind to it. Afterall, its the same product just being used in a different way.

Just one thing about quitting though, if you do slip up don't beat yourself up. Ive got down from a pack and a half a day to one or two a week (usually someone elses) I don't think thats too unacceptable and Ive been doing it since the UK smoking ban came in nearly a year ago so I'm thinking its a pretty permanent state of affairs in the sense that I don't think I'm in any danger of my cigarette intake creeping up, because snuff has taken over to such a large extent and I actually enjoy snuffing. With cigarettes I was only ever feeding a habit, not really liking them. However, Ive just got to admit that every once in a while I just like that major hit that a cig gives you. I calculate that I've had about a hundred cigs since July 07, which as a 43 year old confirmed heavy smoker I am really pleased about.

I like that: "Afterall, its the same product just being used in a different way."

Good thing to meditate on when one feels the urge (habit) to light up, when they can just snuff instead!

It is great that snuff is working for you Grace. I have been arguing with Health Canada (canadian equivalent of FDA - they have a stranglehold on tobacco, and really don't differentiate) for a year that they would be making canadians healthier (their supposed mandate) by relaxing their laws regarding snuff. Of course it falls on deaf ears, but you are a great example of how it works where other methods don't. The harm mitigation (ie health benefits) are well documented. In fact Poeschl has some study which they supposedly bandy around (I would love a copy if anybody has it) which is the result of a long, ongoing independent study which has been searching for ANY cancer associated with specifically nasal snuff: none found to date.

Keep us informed on your success; as long as you sniff EVERY time you feel the urge to smoke, you will never need to smoke. Good luck!

The health fanatics and governments just can't believe snuff has no real danger attached to it. I hate the way that invade our private lives by deciding what is good for us.

I've mad it 2 days now. I did sleep better last night. This morning was sick, but I really believe that's from all the junk food I ate last night. I just couldn't stop eating. Tonight is a little better when it comes to eating junk.

Kim, eating like crazy is a common thing when you give up the cigs because they are an appetite supressant. Don't worry about it, you can always loose a couple of pounds but you can't get your health back once cigs have damaged it.

I've lapsed a bit this week - a real stressful time at work and I ended up smoking a few cigs, what the hell? I'm back on to the Toque now and feeling better already. As I said before, don't beat yourself up if you do lapse. We can feel really guilty when we do that but its not important and its our life not someone elses - because people can be really judgemental when they hear you've had a lapse - its winning the war that counts, so loosing a couple of battles is not important, I'm just saying this because you are in the danger zone at 2 days.

My attitude is - I will always have the odd cigarette and I accept that about myself but most of the time I am a snuffer. At 44 (nearly!) and after smoking for over 20 years, heavily, I am happy with that.

    Love

    Nigel

Was there any certain method that you guys used that works using snuff??
Cold Turkey is something Im probaly not gonna do.
My question is do you guys think its possible to start replacing my cigarette habit with snuff, and eventually just taper off of them all together?
While snuffing, I just take a pinch when I would normally smoke, then honestly I don't care to have a cigarette....the kinda don't taste good at all compaired to Gawiths apricot....lol....
    any help is appreciated....

I stopped very heavy smoking after 27 years 3 months ago, with the help of snuff. I used very big quantities of snuff during the first weeks. This has
changed now, i still use relatively much snuff, but largely for fun. I never had any abstinence symptoms. I maybe had a problem with my immune system, a
mycotic infection that was not treatable for some weeks, but things like that can happen if you stop smoking. Maybe the question is if you can use enough
    snuff during your working time.

    tattooer.

Sounds like you are already pretty much there. Just think to yourself "do I actually want a cigarette?", usually the answer will be no and after a few minutes the craving will go. Eventually you will be thinking that on the "key" cigarettes (morning with coffee, after dinner, before bed) and stop altogether.

When I started snuff it wasn't to quit smoking. Although I wanted to quit, I didn't choose snuff as a method of doing so. So at first I did both, even though I didn't crave cigerettes as much I would still smoke because for me it was normal to smoke. After a little while I just didn't smoke as much and thats when I decided to quit. So I just kept from smoking as much as possible, and had a cigerette whenever I really needed one. Now its been a few months and I still have the occasinal cigerette but I don't let it bother me. I went from smoking a pack a day to on a bad day having two smokes. Most days none at all. The only thing I can say is Snuff is perfect for helping quit, and being much more healthy for you why not?

I smoked about 20 cigs a day since I was 13, and quit over night last september. That is app. 21 years. I have experienced the transition to be wholly positive and I never think of cigs. I recently repainted my flat and threw out old rugs and carpets - what a stinker! Now my flat is smoke free, and when I have smokers visiting I join them for the beautiful view on my balcony :o) Last night I actually had a cigarette while with friends at our local German Bierstube http://www.kleine-bierstube.dk/start.php (which is absolutely awesome!) I got a headache instantly! Cigarettes are no longer tempting to me - I like the culture, history and style of taking a pinch much better. I had two huge bald headed vikings coughing and sneezing their guts out at the Bierstube last night, which made me roll over from laughing - it was so funny :o) Their first pinch :o) My girlfriend is also very positive to snuff and presented me with a Finnish snuff box that looks exactly like a small land mine :o)

    Thanks for the encouraging words.......
After many 17-19 years of smoking, you smoke because you are bored, and have a hand habit.
Snuff defiantly helps with the cravings,I don't crave a cig. I do crave some more snuff though.
Hopefully over a few weeks I can up my snuff consumption and lessen my cigarette consumption, until the cigarettes just go away......crossing fingers.

I gave up cigarette smoking 5 yrs ago. However I do not think I could have done it with just using snuff alone. As a heavy cigarette smoker (30-40 a day) I don't think any snuff could satisfy my then nicotine cravings.

I used a combination of using snuff to kill the cravings, however when the cravings could'nt be handled by snuff alone, I smoked my pipe.

Eventually I stopped smoking my pipe and used snuff on it's own.

Now I only smoke my pipe if I am reading a good book in the evening or with a coffee occassionaly mid-afternoon..

I enjoy snuff, but nothing can substitute a good bowl of pipe tobacco when I am relaxing.

I just don't think snuff on it's own would have seen me over the worst stages. Now any tobacco I do use I really enjoy unlike the coffin nails.

Well if one really enjoys smoking, of course snuff will not substitute for that, since the experience of taking snuff is radically different from that of inhaling smoke, I believe. The two are radically different ways of enjoying tobacco, and it is in a sense like discussing which are the better? Red or white wines? It depends....on occassion, preferences, many factors. I was a cigarette junkie virtually, and smoked like a chimney, and yet had no problems switching to snuff, because I felt disgusted with my cough, the smelly ash trays and the trouble of always having to step outside for a cigarette when away from home. All in all - the culture of smoking became like a warzone instead of a joy of smoking tobacco. Nowadays I feel completely liberated from all the "noise" that is around smoking, and can enjoy wonderful tobacco anywhere, anytime I want. I am extremely happy to have made the switch. But surely I have met people who do both, and I have also met a few who tried snuff, but found it absolutely disgusting. Tastes and temperaments tend to differ - and thank God for that :o)

I to am tired of the same old same old of cigarette smoking......I enjoy my pipes and snuff.
smking cigarettes is simply a faster way to get a Nic hit, I truly don't like it but it is a hard habit to break.

Hey everyone: I know I asked this before, but not many people responded.....is it ok to use your comments here on my new website: www.quitwithsnuff.com? This website is specifically for smokers trying to quit cigarettes; offering snuff as a viable alternative that works. It clearly does, as evidenced by your comments and from my personal experience (my brother and best friend). I would like to put your comments up as testimonials (ie testament to the fact that snuff works). The website is up and running but not really public yet (a few tweaks still happening), so feel free to browse around and give me your suggestions, comments, criticisms. All are welcome.
    thanks,
    D

I smoked for 39 years; cigarettes, pipe and cigars. I stopped smoking with SMOKENDERS in February last year. Although I did not crave cigarettes I missed the tobacco and did not trust myself to "stay stopped". After about 2 or 3 months, can't remember exactly, I started snuffing. And now I'm sure I never want to smoke again. As someone else mentioned, there are so many diiferent flavours available, I might not even be able to taste them all. And, of course, by blending the different flavours/snuffs, the possibilities are endless. I've NEVER, NEVER enjoyed smoking like I enjoy snuffing. I don't have to feel guilty about it, I can do it everywhere I go, I do not harm other people's health nor my own and it's so much cheaper than smoking. And yes, MR SNUFF, YOU MAY QUOTE ME ANY TIME.

Snuff helped my cut down on my smoking dramatically. I still smoke maybe two or three cigs a day, but in comparison that is a huge difference. I plan to stop completely this month as my lady still smokes, and it is hard to stop when someone so close still does it. She plans on getting a perscription this month to quit, and I will stop with her. She tried snuff once but is completely against it! Some people you know...

I have used snuff to give up cigs and dipping. I have not had a cig in over a year. I live in the US but never liked American cigarettes that well. I liked UK or European brands the best. When Dunhill changed their production from the UK to Singapore that was the last straw. They were no longer palatable. I am working on giving up dipping now. I can’t stand paying $5 a can for it when I can get some nasal snuff for $2 a tin. Keep it up everyone. The desire to smoke or dip gets less and less the more I snuff instead.

Soooooo many snuffs so little time!!!
