Hi guys ... my son in law has been pointing me towards this forum for ages (Lazarus is his user name) so here I am! When Lazarus and Mrs Lazarus (my daughter) come round on a sunday for a boozy lunch we often trade snuff notes and try out each other's latest acquisitions. I'm 54 and a minister (the boozy lunches take place AFTER the morning service!) in south London. I've known snuff, off and on, for over 30 years. I used to be a diver and got used to a blast of snuff to clear out the old sinuses before going in - the old Wilsons blue tin as a rule in those days.

I suppose I have been more serious about it for the past couple of years. My personal preference is for perfumed/scented snuffs, so I am a big fan of the F & T range - their Princes blend is currently the resident of my pocket snuff box. I am not overly fond of mentholated or camphorated blends and tend to prefer a moist snuff.

My big passion is photography. You can see my website at: http://www.mikedalesphotography.co.uk/

By way of introduction - me at work:

Cheers for now, and looking forward to participating in the forum ...

Welcome Didache, you look serious in that photo. Btw. what is your opinion on McChrystal's O&G? I am curious how it tastes to someone who doesn't like menthol and camphor... is it so bad?

Thanks guys for the welcome :)

xsys .. not sure I've ever tried it. I might have, but can't remember. It isn't that I don't "like" them - more that I much prefer the perfumed snuffs. If a menthol was all I could get though, I would use it.

W.C.dummy .. they are the hymn numbers. Some people like to find them before I announce the number.

    Cheers

@Didache: I am fortunate to enjoy both perfumed and mentholated. McChrystal's O&G and F&T Macouba, Bordeaux and Santo Domingo are my favourites right now. Btw. don't you think that Bordeaux and Macouba are pretty similar?

Very big welcome to this forum Mike, looks like you work from a modern office. It's nice to have one more Devil Dodger on here.

I'm an ex semi professional photographer and so far, only had time to see your London underground photo's. Very well done. As for the stop and search, I've been there. Also for taking children enjoying them selves, on donkey rides in our local park I had strange looks. It's getting to be a funny world, I sometimes think it is not worth taking a camera out these days.

Well, the boozy lunches and snuff fests are only once a week! We ministers do have to work as well, you know ....... even if it is just one hour a week :)

Snuff Head .. thanks. The Underground project took the guts of two months - I had a photography pass so I could snap away to my heart's content. It was very nerve racking though at the assessment for the RPS distinction for it.

    Hello all,

I've only just discovered snuff and this site recently, and I must say that I quite enjoy both. I'm waiting on my second shipment from the snuffstore as we speak, if only I would have been introduced to snuff taking years ago. Anyways, just wanted to say a quick hello to the regulars here.

Welcome pirate pincher, glad to see you here, its a great forum, what kind of snuffs did you order?
  3.  # 168
I have only been able to find McChystal's here where I live, and I really like the O&G. So on my first order from the snuff store I got some Hopfen Schnupf, and some Highland Ice as well as some Ozona President and Red Bull. So on the second order that I placed which should be here any day now, I should be getting some Samuel Gawith Scotch Black, Bespoke Tobacco Gin & Tonic, Wilsons Tom Buck, Wilsons Sharrow Irish D High Toast, Wilsons Best SP, Lowenprise, and some Gletscherprise. I think that this should do me for a while. At least until exams roll around again!

I like the Poschl's but they tend to plug me up. I'm not sure if this is just the menthol since I really don't have that problem with the McChrystal's

I think it is the poschels as they tend to plug me up if sniff them too hard. if I treat them almost like a fine (instead of coarse) snuff they really don't plug me up that much. I've noticed too with menthol more then other snuffs I have to remember it opens up my breathing so each sniff should be softer. Welcome especialy since I did think there would be more pirates here after all.

Definately not my favorite though I do like some of their line, especialy president and occasionaly glacier pinch.
  5.  # 176
I like the Red Bull and the Ozona President asides from the plugging.. but I think that I was taking to much at a time.. Plus my allergies have been driving me crazy at work so I'm sure that doesn't help at all.. but my order from the snuff store should be here tomorrow after work!!

oh and Bob.. there's always more pirates around than you think!

I think its all the glycerin that Poschl uses that causes the congestion.

    Hey everybody.....
Bigblue1 here my first post. Been snuffen around for awhile first snuff I bought was glacier pinch hence my handle. Recently been on gawath cola pretty good but as some of you have said it is pretty stuffy snuff. I am from the suburbs of Chicago big sox fan, avid fisherman and snuffer think I finally got of the smokes. I'm wondering if anybody can tell me if some of the American snuffs are like dean swift. Also has anybody heard of a snuff either poduced or distributed by Davidoff. Thanx in advance and glad to be here>>>>

Hello bigblue1, welcome to the forum and love to fish myself. None of the American snuffs are like dean swift. The only dean swift snuff that is close to the American snuffs is Dean's Own. Dean Swift is an English snuff and generally is scented with floral or herbs. The American snuffs are generally a plain scotch style which are smokey bbq tasting. Except for the sweet scotch which is just a sweet version of the plain scotch. There are a few with other scents added such as wild cherry or strawberry. As far as Davidoff, I know that Davidoff of Geneva is the main distributor for Poschl snuffs in America.
