    Hail All,
I'm Josh in Kalamazoo, MI (originally from Grayling, but in exile down here among the flatlanders :))
When I was a kid my dad let me have a pinch of Garrett (he always kept a jar on the mantle) off his knuckle. It made me sneeze, and for the next quarter of a century I stayed away from snuff--I thought that people took it to make them sneeze, which was only "confirmed" for me by a few literary references in which people would take snuff and then sneeze.
I have recently learned better and have become greatly interested in snuff. I started with Dean Swift Apricot, and have expanded my collection to include Garrett Scotch, Garrett Sweet, Gletscher Prise, Ozona President, and Packard's Club, which just about exhausts what is locally available.
My interests are pretty esoteric, but include the study of Germanic religion, traditional (chiefly Germanic) poetry, runes, herbalism, brewing, and folk music (I'm currently learning the bagpipe).
    Wassail,
    --Josh

Welcome aboard Josh. Check out nicotinerush.com, they have about every variety of snuff you can imagnine. I just got a shipment of Claq Qui snus from Roda and I no longer use the USA Camel Snus :-) it has far more of a nicotine kick to it. I also ordered some Samuel Gawith High Mill, and that has quickly become my fav. I got some more snuff on the way - High Toast is amongst them. I even got a free sample!

    Hi all!

I havent formally introduced myself althoguh I have been a member for sometime.

My name is Jase and live in Georgia, USA

I have been snuffing now for almost 6 months and love it!!

I was a smoker since age 14 and then used American Dip to quit. After a bad dentist visit ( receeding gums ) I switched to snus. However, I also suffer from sever panic disorder and have frequent panic attacks and snus didnt hel pthat at all.

So snuff made a perfect fit.

I still enjoy a nice pinch of Copenhagen every now and then but I mostly use snuff and I couldnt be happier.

My family sorta thinks its cool because my folks and my grand parents all remember their granparents or parents using snuff either for dipping or sniffing. Mostly American Scotches but still is pretty neat. Funny thing is my snuff habit has made stories of my family members, those ive never met because it was so long ago, come up and I learned so much more about my family I didnt even know existed.

At the present time Im sniffing Toque Original as im writing and feel great, my anxiety meds are working and my alcohol habit has been cut in half, depression sucks, but other than that I cant complain.

Although my intial start on here wasnt so well met, im glad others are pst that now and realize im a regular ol' guy like everyone else. ( And hello ladie snuffers as well )

Thanks you Alex for the forum and Roderick for the snuff, cheers!

maybe if you weren't Grim you wouldn't be grim. :-P
From a song I used to know "Depression's not a million laughs, but suicide's too dangerous."
Glad you're feeling sort of normal, I've heard yoga can help reduce panic attacks.
So a formal welcome from me. Now I need to leave the club until afternoon.
    Have a great day, all.

    Hello!

I started using snuff a few months ago after finding a posting of it on youtube. I used to smoke roll ups for quite a few years but soon came to the conclusion that I wasn't really enjoying it anymore so I moved to pipes and now snuff, what with the smoking ban it will be a great help in the winter months when I go to the pub!

I have also swapped some tobacco with another in the states and got myself some cope, Redman and grizzly wintergreen (although I limit myself to one pinch a week since I quite like having all my own teeth!).

I also like the fact that snuff is so cheap and has considerably less health risks than other forms of tobacco and the amount of flavours which actually taste like described (as opposed to a fair few aromatic pipe tobacco's which may smell nice but don't taste of the flavours which they are described as).

I also make my own beer and it makes a nice match with certain types of snuff after a meal.

Anyway, enjoying McChrystals clove at the mo and F&T's High dried toast although haven't completely got the hang of it just yet, since it still goes down the back of my throat.

    Cheers,

    TC2642

Welcome to the forum Kaiser_Soze, you can't go wrong with the Mac's O&G it is popular with new and old snufftakers. The Ozona President is quiet good to, use the box as a mirror to keep the snuff of a ye face.

    Hey Grim,

I am in Georgia as well. I live in Atlanta. I have only been snuffing about 5 weeks or so and snus was part of journey of getting to know about nasal snuff. I know what you mean about finding out about family members and snuff. I, too have heard many stories that I never would have heard had I not started snuffing.

It's nice to know that someone else is in my part of the world that likes snuff. I get weird looks from people in public, but I still snuff in public. I am not going to hide it. I am proud to be part of a long and interesting tradition.

    Cheers and happy snuffing.

    Shaun

sounds good snuffegnugen, although the O&G makes my eyes water enough, and judging by the reviews i'm not sure my newbie nose can handle it! i'm really digging the idea of coffee flavoured snuff so i might give that a whirl soon

also hello to all the other new folks

    Hello. Ed here.

I'm new to this site and am about to get into snuff. I'm eagerly anticipating my first order as I've had an impossible time locating snuff in my area. I'm only about 30 minutes outside of Boston but no local shops carry dry snuff...it's all American Dip. I gave up cigs six years ago and after complete tobacco abstinence I began dipping. Four years into it I decided that my gums were much too precious as the course cut was tearing them up. I discovered snus a couple of years ago. I have to say I'm an enthusiast now. I've settled on Grov White portion as my favorite but I've always been intrigued by snuff. I've never tried it because I've always thought of it as something used by old salty fisherman (like the Gorton's guy).

I'm looking forward to my delivery and expressing my first experience but guess what? The mailman is late. It's a rarity that he's late but I'm waiting for something...I guess that's how it works...good things come to those who wait...right?

    Welcome,
I am revisiting snus, I just got 4 cans in the mail today. This humid weather does not seem to mix well with me and snuff, and it seems I've gotten, I don't know what, but it's upper respritory, and rib tenderness, and stopped up, I took an expectorant, and some nasal spray, and am not doing snuff till I get over this. I don't think snuff had any role in it, but it may exasberate the condition, plus it's not fun to sniff if stopped up. Anyway, that's why I decided to give snus another try, I didn't hate it before, but didn't really take to it much either, but I've never been a big oral tobacco user. I'll stick a portion in later... let this medicine I just took work it's way in some first.

The mailman failed to deliver my parcel but I did manage to locate a shop in a town I was driving to and picked up 2 cans.

I first tried W.E. Garrett Scotch Snuff. I thought was going to get the sniffing thing pretty close on the first go but OH MY GOD. It smelled pretty good but I got a little over zealous and it felt like I shot the back of my eye out with a nail gun. It quickly passed and I was able to enjoy the aroma. I dig it. I really dig it.

I then tried Bruton's. This one had a little too much mesquite or something in it. I'd imagine it's partly from whatever they used to cure it thought I didn't find it offensive my taste would perhaps be better suited in a different direction.

It took me three toots to get it right and not dust my brain but I got it. I'm excited to learn more about this wonderful world of snuff. I've got Toque (ordinary tobacco) on the way which I'd expect to be somewhat different.

While different, most agree there is some similarity with the American Scotch snuffs, and the Euro Toast styles. When I 1st tried a toast snuff, it was Toque's Whisky and Honey(which isn't a straight up toast), the 1st thing that came to mind is the American Scotch snuffs. Though personally, I much prefer the toasts.

Hello all, I'm James from Allen Park, Michigan (20 mins. south of Detroit), and yes, I'm a new convert to snuff courtesy of the Wired.com article. Been a cigarette smoker for about 15 years but trying to pare down the habit just a smidge. After reading the article and then lurking here for a few nights, I finally couldn't resist and sprung for a can each of Garrett Scotch and Sweet. Talk about a trial by fire! I likened it to a kid who decides to begin drinking by starting off with a fifth of Everclear. It'll get you there, but man what a ride! However, I've gotten the knack and now enjoy my morning snootful with my coffee. I've got an 8-pack Poschl sampler on the way from Tom at NicotineRush, and lookin' forward to trying 'em all! Here's looking ah-CHOO!

    Greetings,

My nicotine-using nickname is Enfield; you can find me quite active on the e-cigarette forum. I am located in SE Michigan, in the Metro-Detroit/Ann Arbor area. I am brand new to snuff, and have also just recently tried snus. I just got my first shipment of goodies yesterday from nicotinerush.com. The Toque absinthe bullet was a shock, but Dholakia swiss chocolate was a treat. I am still in my learning curve, and my first several pinches offered me flavor/fragrance, but no real nicotine. Finally this morning I did a *real* pinch of Swisher Honey Bee in the kitchen and by the time I got back to the living room, I could finally really *feel* it. Oh my. I have settled into a groove today snuffing swiss chocolate and/or honey bee from various areas of my left hand. It fascinates me how the effect of nicotine can be so different between different methods of administration: lung inhalation (smoke/vape), nasal snuffing, buccal absorption (snus). Bullets are still hit and miss with me, but I would like to get used to using them.

Can't sign off without relating this one:
My order contained an empty acrylic bullet, which I very clumsily and messily tried filling up with Dholakia Sparrow Cool--sounded nifty, thought I'd give it a go. One quick amateur snort had me stomping around the kitchen, shaking my head, attempting futilely to gather my brain cells back together. I've never intentionally tried to imitate an enraged stallion, but the Sparrow cool induced a fairly good attempt of it. I am setting that one aside for now, and sticking with the sweeter stuff.

Happy to be here, and looking forward to learning much more on the Snuff Road...

I think the nic effect is different with the method. Snuff does not have the same effect as snus, as dip, or ciggs. They all have a different effect to me.

    Welcome.
