I was reading the Poschle air freshener story the other day and thought to myself how lucky I was to not have had any real spills with my snuff. Well today I decided to try Bespoke Gin and Tonic as it was in a plastic baggie for some reason I knew it would be quick and easy to try a pinch. Well after my pinch I somehow dropped the bag and spilled a lot of it out on my pants, my chair, and the rug below! So I had my first spill today, and I must say it is really depressing!

Yeah that is always bad, hopefully you were able to save a little bit. My first spill was a whole container of DeKralingse Pompador, and I was outside in the yard so there was no salvaging any of it. Welcome to the spill club!

I once managed to accidentally open my usual wooden snuff box inside my dressing gown pocket. At least I was able to retrieve most of the snuff, though it was a bit fluffy!

I once spilled an entire 25g tin of Crumbs of Comfort in my laptop bag. Luckily the laptop wasn't in there. Needless to say, I was very frustrated!

I have yet to spill a significant amount of nasal snuff (/me knocks on wood) this does recall a memory of me packing a can of cope one day, that I had only taken one pinch from, and in one careless second my grip faltered and through the air the can flew making solid contact with a wall causing the can to basically explode and sending the contents all over my rug. None was salvageable and it was a sad moment for me that repeated it self in my mind many times as I realized just what happened. As I vacuumed, the room filled with that wonderful Copenhagen aroma the likes of which I would compare with rubbing salt in a wound.

    I feel your pain dajawu.

I did a similar thing lofat with Cope. But I was out duck hunting on a cold cold morning over near Yuba City. I was in the middle of this shallow pond hunting from a little island of reeds standing in about 3 feet of water. My hands were cold when I started to pack the can. I guess with the cold I didn't have a good grip on the can because as I packed it, the can went flying out of my hands and as that happened I guess the lid caught my fingers and it flipped the lid off and I covered the pond in cope. Luckily I had two cans with me because I would always bring another incase 1 got wet. That was the same day that it snowed in Sacramento.

But if you spill snuff you can pick it up with a balloon. Just rub the balloon to create static and you have a snuff magnet.

Ha ha Troutstroker - thank God it wasn't Cafe Royale :) Snuff magnet? Interesting, my friends call me the Nutcase Magnet because of the girls I attract - Cute&Crazy :) I spilled an entire pound of Irish Dark High Toast, sent to me from Wilson & Sharrow. Some Royal Mail worker had apparently stepped/kicked/beaten up the envelope so badly, that the container was only held together by the paper of the envelope! When I opened the envelope - one pound (250g) of awesome snuff poured out on my kitchen floor covering me in DHT and decreasing visibilty in my flat to ca zero for a minute or so (love telling stories:) Wilson & Sharrow kindly replaced the container and apart from this accident I didn't spill too much. Have a snuphphy day :)

Just for future reference; if any of you suffer any damage spillage of snuff through the post from the UK, Royal Mail insurance covers you to £32.00/$64.00. All you need do is email the company you bought the snuff from and they claim from Royal Mail.

I had a tight lid on a new tin of Wilsons Crumbs Of Comfort, it flew out of my grip and onto the floor. Yes it opened, I managed to retrieve most of it.

After hearing other stories I don't feel so bad about the amount I spilled, so thanks guys! A few times I have dropped my can of Rooster but luckily the lid stayed on and nothing had fallen out. Thankfully as the can of Rooster holds 1.15oz.

@Viking - Thank god you got that refunded, I couldn't imagine losing a whole pound of snuff! Let alone the smell and mess in your place but that is alot of snuff to lose in one quick moment!

Dajawu - ha ha yes thank God Wilson's always were very understanding to me :) - but it was really a nightmare when that happened! I've never seen anything quite like my kitchen floor that day :) Wilson's sent me a replacement. It's by the way a wonderful snuff, the Dark Irish High Toast. Smokey flavor and very nice grinding.

Argh! I just had my first spill as well. I had JUST got a new tin of Toque Grapefruit (one of my favorites) and I was really exited, perhaps a little too exited as I flipped the tin over as I went to take the first pinch. The snuff spilled all over my lap, on the chair, down my legs, on to my feet and the carpet! I scooped some up, but I'm afraid its full of dust and hairs and god knows what else. I only had a crappy hand-vac to work with and it left a big brown stain on the carpet. Hella lame.

I have not had any major spills, as of yet. There is the occasional I lose when filling my snuffbox or bullet, and sometimes when I'm careless about opening up the tin or something.
It's bound to happen eventually though, and I'm sure it's going to suck..
    Heh.

I spilled half a 10g can of cherry menthol in bed. I recovered almost all of it but when I was going to sleep I felt like I had put bengay on from the residue on the sheets.

I spilled about half a tub of robbies top mint snuff once when out walking the dogs - whilst holding the tub open by the hinged lid i some how managed to hit the underside /bottom of the tub with my hand while going to take a pinch, on the plus side it was only like 4 grams though so nothing to major. :)

I fell asleep reading this site once with a full tin of Toque on my knee that I hadn't shut properly, all gone.

I wouldn't snuff in bed, it wouldn't seem right. I also don't like taking it out doors for some reason.

Outdoors is my favorite place to enjoy snuff. Taking a pinch on a cool early morning sitting on the deer stand as all the critters start waking up & moving around, or on the lake as the sun rises & the fish are jumping. Thats just heaven to me.

Well, thats one of the great things about snuff and probably why it's such a viable replacement for cigs - you can develop your own rituals. My own are a bit less picturesque; I love a shot when I am first in the office in the morning and deciding what I have to do, with my tea at breakfast, with good liquor. When outdoors I don't snuff but fiddle with my snuff box, rotating through my fingers like a rosary. Sometimes I like to just contemplate taking a pinch but not doing. Rituals..and I think they have saved my life, I must have had two cigarettes since June

I spilt half a tin of Kendal Brown once. Worst part was, it became a snuff I really liked. Unfortunately, with two cats, you can't always picked stuff like that back off the carpet (I don't want to try "Cat Hair Brown"), so I had to vacuum it away.

I just thought that I would bump this thread up with something that happened to me recently.

I was working on my laptop with a opened tin of Toque Toffee at the side. I was on the computer manufactures and clicked for a bios update and immediately the CD/DVD drawer popped open and knocked my tin of snuff off the bench! It was asking for a CD-R or DVD-R to make a boot disk. I never bothered with the update, just cleaned out my small battery driven vacuum cleaner and sucked the Toque out of the carpet and put it back in the tin. The snuff is as good as ever, with perhaps a little household dust :-)

Only spill I have had was with Taxi Red (what silly containers they come in). However, I didn't care for this snuff too much, but I still don't like to lose any of any variety!

I also worked on my Computer last week, a glass of milk standing on the floor between my legs. My snuff was landing directly into the milk,
got some nice cherry snuff milk :)

Yesterday having a tremendous hangover, I was going to fill up my snuff box from my supply in the fridge! A half pound can of WS Best SP catapults itself out of the fridge, lid spinning off, hits me in the stomach and bounces to the floor emptying itself onto my socks :o)))) What a morning!

I left one of the Poschl plastic cases open in my pocket the other day...either that or it opened when I was reaching for another tin or something else that was in my pocket. I ended up with a pocket full of snuff & lint. It wasn't salvagable :( Fortunately, I had another fresh tin of the stuff and it was getting pretty old anyway...it just gave me an excuse to open the new one!
