sorry about the line, it was the only thing to rhyme with woe that made a tiny bit of sense :)
I got a parcel from customs the other day saying that a my long anticipated package didnt clear and they'll either destroy it or send it back to merdock for a fee. i'm just starting to really enjoy jewel too thanks to a sample that Mo generously sent me! So it thought about it for a while and I'm going to send it back to merdock so others can enjoy the blessings this snuff will deliver :)
Bloody Australian customs... i've got enough jewel to last out about 2 wks and then i'm on my own. i feel like i'm on an island rationing my food. Take a pinch for me boys and think of those less fortunate lol.
Oh crap, sorry about that... Are there special instructions for shipping to you? Let me know and I'll send it back out... If you don't want to try again I'll refund your money...
Sorry to hear that. I know you mentioned a while back that there may be some risk for you to get snuff you ordered but it made it through ok. Do you know why they didn't let this particular package through? My understanding was that you can't sell some types (just smokeless?) of tobacco there, but I thought you'd be ok to buy from outside sources. Do you anticipate a problem with future snuff orders? Can you receive gifts of tobacco? Just very curious. I hate to see you or anyone being kept down by "big brother" laws. And how can they make only certain forms of tobacco illegal? Crazy!
Hey merdock, maybe if you were able to put it in a larger bag so it spreads out and sits flat, you might be able to send it in just a standard envelope. If you can get it flat enough, it could look like a regular letter. I mean, how many envelopes are going to get opened going through customs?
Dont worry merdock, it wasnt your fault :) once u get it want to try posting again?
I'm not sure why. i know u cant import plant products so maybe they thought it had a disease or something. all the other orders i've made have come through, maybe it was because they were in proffesional packaging or something. or it waz just some weird random inspection. I hope i wont have any problems int he future.
ya onefortheroad, tobacconists cant sell smokeless but u can import it for personal use no worries, so the only two reasons i can think of for things being stopped are if i ordered heaps and they thought i ws going to sell it (in which case i'd jus expect to be taxed for it) or there were some plant worries or something.
Mo sent me a pakage a little while ago and it got thru untouched at all...i'll see if he sees this and if not i'll ask him what he did..?
guys guess what was in my mailbox just now...the jewel!! i had to check twice to make sure what it was lol.
looks like the work experience lad will be getting fired. poor fellow. i dont know how this happened, i got a custom note and now they sent it through anyway. weird as anything!!!
thanks so much merdock...happy snuffing everyone. i'm in shock so i think i'll take a pinch to settle down :)
Good deal... I just stated "Tobbacco Snuff Sample" (I may have even said 'handmade' or 'homemade', but I don't remember now) on the customs form, I assumed it wouldn't be a problem. I'm glad they delivered it... ENJOY!!!
BTW, I always include a copy of the paypal receipt in the envelopes as 'some sort of documentation' I figure its better than just two non-descript baggies of snuff... Maybe they read the customs form and denied it, but opened later and saw the paypal paperwork and quanitity and figured it was fine... Who knows, I'm just glad it made it to you...
You're lucky you even got any sort of notification by customs or your courier operator... here in Costa Rica I face a big problem with snuff: first, I have to pay 122% import tax on tobacco products (which I don't mind since snuff is very cheap), but then in order to have the product delivered to my PO Box I MUST have a Tobacco Importation Permit from the local health government institution. And it's a b1tch to get it, too. I basically have to turn in a paper stating the exact chemical composition of snuff, along with percentages and whatnot. Then they would run my request through a system allowing only a certain amount of certain compounds to be cleared at customs... so I would basically have to do this with every snuff flavor there is. Then they would determine whether or not I comply with the government's regulations and decide if I can have the permit or not.
I've gotten around this by having traveling friends who go to the USA or Europe every now and then bring me back orders I have shipped to their vicinity. Moreover, there are many snuff shops online that won't take my credit card (mostly in the US).
I've had at least 4 snuff orders never make it to me and no notification at all of what happened, not even a "Yeah we got your package but it didn't comply with importation rules so we destroyed it". One of those packages was labeled as 2 keychains and my shipper told me the package rattled so it wouldn't bring any attention... I had another package shipped to me as a gift and it still didn't make it through to me. The sender was kind enough to attempt to re-ship it but it didn't make it either.
That's the reason I didn't purchase a Spanish Jewel stash and I HATE my local laws for all this bulldung.
I'm still trying to hook up with someone here with such a permit and am even thinking of starting my own tobacco shop... I'd have to bust out a big amount of money though.
Glad to catch up here on this thread and see that you got the Jewel okay. Man, what a bummer though to have to go through that each time in anticipation of an order. When I mailed your package out I had it placed in an International Priority box with the Custom label afixed noted as a gift and only wrote 'nasal snuff' on the content line. "Tobacco' written on there might have been the eye-catcher!
