    All,

A topic for discussion? Whats Your favorite snuff? Do you enjoy more than one? Or, do you stick with an old standby?
Myself, I keep several "Old Standbys" on hand. F&T's Kendal Brown, Princes, and Old Paris as well. G&H's Jockey Club, and S. Gawith's Irish "D" (Original not light).

    CHEERS, Merlin

I added my favourite one (at the moment) to my account by adding a label. You may add different labels by navigating to your account editing 'personal information'.

Mine is the A/P by De Kralingse.

My favorite? I think it could be Lowen-Prise but there are also other snuffs that I enjoy very much like: McChrystal's Supermint, Anisette, S'nuff and Sternecker Fresko. Those are my favorite ;)

My favorites at the present time (this is always subject to change) are:
    Ozona President
    Packard's Club
    F&T Bordeaux
    Wilson's Royal George
    Wilson's Best SP

This is basically in order of most favorite to a little less than most favorite :). I just really love the menthol breeze that I get with the Poeschl snuffs, I find it extremely refreshing. The Bordeaux I find just to be an excellent fragrance, despite it's "floweriness", that is very strong and lasts nicely. The Royal George is just a good scent, it's hard to describe, sort of like cologne, but good cologne, not drugstore cologne. I also like the Best SP, but I wish the fragrance was stronger. I just put in a very large order from Mars, so the above may be subject to change very soon!

    Aloha!

My favorites at the present time (this is always subject to change) are:

    Mcchrystals Origional
    Gawith Apricot
    De Kralingse Macuba
    Mcchrystals "Snuff"
    Ozona President

Firstly thanks to Smarvy for the layout hope you didnt mind, I do agree with Smarvy i have similar tastes in that i also love the "menthol breeze" that comes form the more mentholated snuffs and i least like perfumed snuffs i like a subtle flavour with staying power but also has to have quite a strong Tobbacco and Nicotine boost (coming from being a smoker expected lol) so my fav is in order from most liked to least liked. Love the forum Alex good work

    My favorites

    My favorite all day snuffs
#1 Wilson's Tom Buck or Queens Extra Strong (pretty much the same snuff)
    #2 McChrystal's Original & Genuine
    #3 Poschl's Red Bull

My favorite once in a while treats
    De Krlingse Peppermint, Orange, Macouba
    Bernards Amostrinha
    Gawith Cola, Apricot
Wilson's Rose of Sharrow, Cherry, Prime Minister, Honey Menthol, Irish High Toast #22
    Poschl - President
    Gletscher Prise
Samuel Gawith - Mandarin, Bannana, Lavender, Chocolate
    F&T - Santo Domingo, Bordeuax
    Gawith Hoggarth - Whiskey

all the other snuffs I own I also consider once in a while treats, just less often than the ones I listed. I never throw out a snuff I don't like at first, I may end up liking it later.

And Smarvy I noticed you stated "I also like the Best SP, but I wish the fragrance was stronger". I have never tried the BestSP, but from everything I have read Tom Buck is basically BestSP with a stronger scent. It is my favorite, maybe you would enjoy it also.

    Your not far off Poo-Diddy,

I just had a pinch of Best SP, and then a few minutes later, some Tom Buck. They are very close, but I detect a slight citrus aroma in the TB that doesn't (to me) seem to be present in the SP. That being said this is a very minor difference; the two tobaccos taste very similar indeed. I haven't tried the Queens, is it any stronger than Tom Buck, or is it basically the same stuff? I do enjoy Tom Buck as well, but all I have is a small sample of it that I got with my last order from Mars, so I tend to not use it much in the effort to keep it around for variety's sake. I guess I'll have to order more snuff then (*sigh*, will the rigors of my life never cease?) and include some Tom Buck in the order. Thanks for the comment Poo-Diddy, it was very helpful!

    Aloha!

To me the Tom Buck and Queens are the excact same snuff, I don't think anybody would be able to tell the difference if there even is one between the 2.

If you would like to read a full review on queens I posted one at www.snufftalk.org a site that works together with this one as far as reviews go.

here is a direct link to the review

I seem to have settled on SG Kendal Brown Original Unscented for everyday usage, but will occasionally pinch-hit (Ha!) with Latakia 1860AO, Taxi Blue, Blue Crest, McCombie, or a homemade (Perique mostly) for a change of pace. The Kendal is what I have in my pocket 90% of the time, probably.

As recently as six months ago, I carried an assortment of 9 snuffs in smashboxes with me (all in a spiffy case) and traded them out often. I abandoned that when I started buying real live snuffboxes, but my preferences were already becoming pretty settled by that point.

If you decide on some Bordeaux, be prepared for a very flowery experience. Not saying it's bad; it's not, but it's like going facedown in an overheated greenhouse and then not being able to get back up. :-)

I'm kinda torn at the moment between Chief Bull and Wilson's Spearmint Plus. I like the flavor of the Chief Bull, but I also love the cool, refreshing feel of the Spearmint Plus.

I have trouble with quite a lot of snuffs but have 2 absolute firm favourites that never offend the nose namely:

    WILSONS LAVENDER
    SAMUEL GAWITHS KENDAL HONEY

Both mild but with a twist!:)
  2.  # 19
My favorite is the one in my pocket. That changes daily. I keep wanting to try new snuffs so I haven't repeated an order yet. I have figured out that Royal George is my least favorite. I want to try lavender; I'm sure it will be my favorite (for a day at least).
    :-)

An addition to Poo-Diddy and Smarvy discussion of Tom Buck/Queens,
and the recommendation to try Best SP

Best SP has been Wilsons' best selling snuff for more than 250 years. Its basic aroma is of the fine tobacco leaves with just a hint of various essential oils of Mediterranean citrus fruits, Queens and Tom Buck are both stronger versions of Best SP. - more information on W&S blends can be found at sharrowmills.com

My dearest snuff by itself McChrystals Original, I have consistently had this one on hand.

However I do not consistantly use any brand by itself... I mix and blend snuffs along with other herbs, tobaccos.

The mix I am using at the moment which is so far the BEST SNUFF I HAVE EVER USED, and I have shared some with friends to try and they love it and when they are around they keep asking for SOME OF THAT MIX... it is a blend of the following ratios not exact but close:

    I call it SHERLOCK.
    10% McChrystals Jip
    20% Ozona Cherry
    20% Wilsons Crumbs Of Comfort
50% from a tin about 7 years old that I recently found in my collection hidden away with a bunch of snuffs in my kitchen, I am not sure what the mixture in this old tin is, but I do believe it contains Wilsons Rum and Blackberry, because its in an old Wilsons Rum and Blackberry tin labled MIX.

I called it Sherlock cause it would take Sherlock and Holmes very much time to solve the mystery of this special blend. I was going to write a review on this one but it got so long I decided it is maybe for another day.

Does anyone else blend with good results? if so what are you blending? and do you name your blends?

    Dapalma,

Funny you should mention your last post. I went to bed last night reading The Return of Sherlock Holmes' The Adventure of the Empty House (and looking for snuff references, I may add) :-)

    As to my favorite snuff:

There is one mix that I make fairly often. My measurements are made with the spoon on a 3-in-1 Czech pipe tool. I use 4 scoops Wilsons or Tranters Gold Label (they are both the same), 2 scoops of Dholakia Kamal, 1 heaping scoop of Tranters Jockey Club, 1 scoop Wilsons Honey Menthol then add Allspice to taste. I shake and mix thoroughly then I let the mixture sit overnight. I refer to this mixture as 'KaBoom' because it hits you like a Sherman Tank and really wakes you up.

I still really love my W.E. Garrett Mild & Sweet American Dry Snuff. I've received 3 others from MarsCigars.com and enjoyed them very much (Dutch Windmill), but I just always seem to return to the W.E. Garrett as my all day snuff.

    "These are my favorite snuffs.
The clamp jar contains my nameless snuff or Spanish Jewel as Troutstroker and I use to call it.
Americans are my prefereds at the same level than my Spanish.
The light blue pouch contain an Italian snuff that nowadays is off of market, but I still have some pouches. Is a plain dry and fine snuff.
The Wilson's tin was my first snuff. Perhaps the tin is more than 30 years old.
The plastic jar contain as you can see an excellent traditional English Dry Snuff from Tranter's"

Excuse my boldness and thanks a lot in advance.

    Your Spanish friend,

    Pedro

I have had a chance to try the Italian sant'Antonino thanks to my good friend Pedro. It is an excellent snuff. Pure, clean and smooth tobacco greatness. You have to go back to the bottom of page 1 to see the picture.
