STAG ARMS AR-15 Model 2T. Set me back about $1,200. I also have about $500 worth of add-ons on the way. :D Of course, the only reason I could afford this is because of a nice tax return this year. Once I have it souped up, I'll be sure to update with photos. ;)
Nice little squirrel gun you got there, I like it!! ;~) I'm sad now because California won't let us have that type of lead slinger. That really hurts my feel goods :~( Should be fun to shoot at night with the flash aimed straight up like that!
Of course, I'm not allowed to own one because I live on Airstrip One, which is why I intend to move to the USA as soon as I'm able to. Even holding that thing would get me a mandatory five year prison sentence here, so next time you hold it, make sure you spare a thought for us poor folks in the UK, and remember what that rifle represents.
In my country, I can't own a semiauto rifle, or any type of handgun (even a single shot .22) and owning any type of firearm is so difficult you might as well not bother. I have a 1911 sitting next to me on my coffee table, but it is deactivated. I can still field strip it in the dark, and I can change a mag fast enough that the first one hasn't hit the floor before I hit the slide release :o)
I bet you're pleased about the 'sunsetting' of that silly assault weapons ban...
Very cool! Have you had a chance to shoot it yet? Just a reminder for those of us from the USA. Join the NRA! I went to a gun show and bought an SKS semi-auto for $75. The only legal hassle was having to buy the bayonet separately.
That looks pretty great. I'm a fan of bolt action rifles myself. Also, I love the feel of the 1911s. I've got too many hobbies to afford any of these things though.
I haven't had a chance to fire it yet. A) I've been sick all weekend, and B) I'm still waiting for this damned winter to end. Sure, I could probably take it to an indoor range or something, but I'm sure I'd get bored with 50 yards after about a minute, lol. But, that's ok with me. It gives me more time to learn as much as I can about my rifle and all of its moving parts.
It's not so much what I'm going to do with it, per se. The real question is what would I do without it if S ever HTF. Until then, I'll probably just do what TheLong suggested and open cans with it or use it as a hole punch for paper.
wow that looks like lots of fun. do u have some land to play with it on or u taking it to a range? wish aust had more relaxed gun laws. looks like i'm in the same boat as heaps of people. its too much of a pain to get the license and then to store any guns here.
I don't personally have any land to play around on, but my mother and her husband do. I also have friends who have friends that do. The nearest outdoor range to me is about 75 miles away. And the membership fees are out of this world.
It's not a question of what you intend to do with it, but rather, what would you do without it? It's when people stop exercising their rights that they start to lose them.
I hate politics, and used to pay as little attention to them as possible, but as a firearms enthusiast, business owner, and now more recently a smoker, I have been forced to take an interest. To feel unwelcome in your own country, to which you pay exorbitant taxes, is a very unpleasant feeling.
A great weapon...congratulations Satyr. As snuffster said, in Spain we are not so free as you in America. Here the criminals have all kind of fire arms but we average citizens are not allowed to have arms. I am a Law Officer from 25 years ago and I am only allowed to have two guns ( short guns)....this is the EU freedom.
The thing is ,dear fellow Samorost, guns are neccesary because some people are really violent...and if you have a gun you will have some possibilities to survive...if not, you and yours will be destroyed undoubtly...HOMO HOMINI LUPUS ( Sir Thomas Hobbes )...The Man is the Wolf of the Man...
"Wow. I'm just impressed at how everyone loves guns. I personally hate them and hope there will never be one around in my life."
Just remember this, good sir. A gun in the hand beats a cop on the phone every single time. I don't like the fact that we need them, but we do need them. And that's a fact.
Nice piece, satyr. Let us know how she handles. I'd like a handgun that shoots cigarettes. Judging by the laws up here, I think it's the scariest thing most Canadians can imagine.
@samorost: I suggest you read this: http://www.slate.com/id/2109816
It's a pretty interesting article. I'm (sort of) a lefty and don't own any guns, but I'm also a small-l libertarian, and have a hard time with a lot of "gun control", other than using both hands. Not to get too ranty, but I strongly believe though I may disagree with a typical right-wing conservative on issues like immigration, abortion, drug policy, Iraq, anti-terror laws, and so forth, if that person was a CCW holder and I a victim of violent crime, they would absolutely intervene to protect me until the boys in blue arrived. And they'd do it for you, too. A lot of people see that as a civic duty, and take it very seriously.
Also, target shooting is just plain fun. Now if only I can get that green card ...
Firearms are just a way of life for me. They are a tool in my self reliance. Grocery stores and restaurants could sees to exist and I would never go hungry. 90% of the meat I eat is a product of a successful hunt or fishing trip! They also provide great recreational enjoyment. Its another excuse to get outdoors and enjoy life in its fullest.
