Here is something that someone might be interested in using for a snuff box? They are new from the Czech Military for use with medical so I'm sure they fit pretty tight.

I mentioned on this post earlier I would like a gold snuff box. Just found a nice example but a little out of my price. I bet it would feel good in the hands though.

18k is nice, but little too soft I'd think. If I wasn't saving $$$ for an AR-15, I might consider placing a bid. It does look sharp.

I guess 18K would have the same tactile strength of pewter, which Ive always found a bit too soft. Not that I'd turn my nose up at this baby though! Maybe if there's a rich old lady out there in search of a 43 year old toyboy?.......

18K gold is still pretty strong. 18K jewelry like rings and such do hold up pretty well and they get a lot more abuse than a snuff box would. Granted 14K or even 10K would be a lot better for pocket use. But I wouldn't want to use anything more pure than 18 unless it sat on a desk. But I don't think I would carry this one around either. I would probably use it as a desk top snuff box. You would feel pretty sick in the stomach if you lost that one!

I hate to say this, but these days I snuff from a silver box made as an advertisment for the good ship Titanic...and yes I paid a horrible price for it when I got it, but it was worth it.

Next time I go to mexico for my dental work I'll check out the local silver smiths. I see some notable workmanship in mexican silver, including abalone inlays and semi-precious stones. Wonder what it would cost....

I have a mexican silver snuff box with an abalone lid. Its pretty nice work on it. There are also some Indians in your neck of the woods stitch that do some good silver work.

Here is a pic of my new little gem. Found it hiding on Ebay. It was brand new in box. Its sterling silver & weighs 32.8 grams. Lid opens and closes with a snap & seems to seal very tight. With shipping, paid $25.
Here is a link to the manufacturers website. If you look under "smoking accessories" there are a few snuff boxes. There are also some listed under their pill boxes. Like Pg.8 #PB520

Satyr, if your interested in another silver box, this ebay store has a few nice ones. Just make sure to check measurements on them. Like the 8th down on the left and the 7th down on the right.

Thats some price, I love the fact that the picture sits right next to the 'buy it now' button! To be honest, even if I could afford it, I wouldn't buy it as I don't find it that interesting (history excluded) I Think I would rather have your recent finds

Found some more nice silver boxes with international shipping. Particularly numbers 724, 718, 715, 716, 709. The one under number 716 looks a lot like the one I just scored on EBAY.

Those are nice, and with the free shipping inside the USA it has me very tempted to get a couple of them.

I contacted Ari D Norman who is the maker of that sterling snuff box I just bought on ebay. Out of curiosity I just wanted to know where I could get that other nice snuff box they have. So if your interested in one, this was the reply. Also the 2 boxes priced I posted below. And the one on the left, is the one I bought and posted pics of.

    Thank you for your enquiry.
You can purchase direct from us. The costs of the snuffboxes you are interested in are:-

    PB 452 = £65.00
    PB 508 = £82.50

The prices include VAT but not postage. The postage charge is £5.00.
We accept payment by credit/debit card and delivery is usually within 2-3 working days.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
    Kind regards
