Nice taste in music among the masses here. I am a huge of bluegrass fan & all 'old timey' music, & Townes is probably my favorite songwriter ever.
Some others to check out if you haven't (and you probably have) are Gillian Welch and David Rawlins, Old Crow Medicine Show, Patty Loveless, Del McCoury, Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, and Hazel & Alice - to name a few.
If you are looking for some super lively guitar honkin' stuff do check out Rose & The Maddox Brothers. Oh and speaking of Bakersfield the new Dwight Sings Buck is top shelf if you haven't heard it yet.
I could go on for days about music so I'll stop here, but will say for the record that I agree that mainstream country has gone pop - but there are a couple of current country artists that are keeping it real like Brad Paisley, Montgomery Gentry, Steve Earle, etc. but yeah, all that Carrie Underwood stuff is way over produced & auto tuned. Really sucks the soul out of the music.
@ lofat, I like the video of "Streets Of Bakersfield" with Dwight Yoakam & Buck Owens. And unfortunately, Buck Owens passed away in 2006. And I still enjoy Travis Tritt.
yeah, that was a sad day when we lost Buck. Have a lot of his stuff at home. What I really want is one of his signature telecasters.... that would be uber sweet. Travis is great - his voice just gets better with time.
Tabacznik - Great photos, once again I had you guys pegged as much older. It's good to see that our hobby which is an old practice, is used by so many younger people. It is my belief that is the reason as we get older we will really see snuff taking close the gap with smokers and oral snuff users.
Generally, snuff meetings are great things. You can explore new places (I've never been to Wroclaw before), meet new interesting people (all of You) and of course try new snuffs!
Maybe one day we arrange a Snuffhouse members meeting! Well, men, Europe or USA?
I'm so far behind on posts now due to work being busy that I don't know how I can catch up. Anyhow, TS mailed me this thread so I figured I'd check in too. Me and the kiddo before a T ball game last June or so...
This is what I look like after a bad night at work. Notice the date too. LOL.
With the expression on your face alone & the crazed look in your eyes you can tell you had a bad day, not to mention the mud caked boots & dirty uniform.
A few of you have asked about that Christmas Eve work pic so I figured I'd post what happened here if you're interested. Long story short, it had rained for a couple days straight and I went in on Christmas Eve early that night to help out the previous shift. We got dispatched to a domestic dispute where the offender was drunk and high on crack and threatening his family with a knife. He didn't want to be arrested peacefully and we all wound up rolling around in the mud outside his house before I finally had to hit him with a Taser to get him handcuffed. I was a pretty big ol' boy back then (I've lost about 40 pounds now) and my partner that night weighs in over 350 lbs. and we had the fight of our life. Luckily, there were two of us there that night or we would have probably had to shoot the guy. During the scuffle, we both lost our portable radios off our belts and couldn't call for any more back up. After we got him to the jail, he decided to fight the jailers and got Tased again. I left the jail to go home and change and made it back just in time to work my regular 8 hours. LOL. Funny thing is that Christmas morning around 5:00am I had to go back over to that same house and lock up another relative for something else. After seeing what had happened to his brother earlier that night, he didn't even talk back and got in the backseat of the car by himself. LOL.
That Christmas morning, I gave plenty of thanks that I was able to be home with my kids and family...
@macalpe: What brand is that beer you are holding in your hand? When I was in Santiago de Compostel I tried Galicia Estrella and that was pretty good. Do you have any good beers down in south either? Btw. nobody really showed us what is that famous siesta. We checked few bars and pubs between 12pm and 3pm and all of them were empty and then the same thing in Bilbao.
Hello to you all, xsys, the beer I hade in my hands is a "Cruzcampo", is a very good lager from this town. Is a very old brand. More or less ten years ago was bought by Heinekken Group...but still have the same old recipe.
Bit late to this, but this is me and one of my daughters (you only need to see one as they are twins!) taken yesterday on a very mild January late afternoon. Snuff not pictured, but you know its there.... ;-)
Being a pretty new member it seemed like a good idea to add to this one.
I've picked a pic of both my wife and myself as she's decided she really rather keen on Kendal Brown, to the extent that I'm now buying her her own snuff box for it!
