@troutstroker - Like that first shot of you, is that a Remington .243 there with you? It's got an awfully short barrel...

solid hair man. I'm hoping to grow mine about shoulder length, but whenever i try it starts to get long, and i can't think of anything to do with it so its all messy and annoying and i buzz it all off.

Patience ausmike, patience. I had quite a few months of "transitional phase" hair which I had no choice but to cover up with a hat. My hair is about 3" longer than it was when I took that picture and believe me, it was hard getting here. Stick with it brother and if you do, you might still hate it but at least you know what it looks like.

@murdock69 - Cute kid, man! My wife and I plan to start trying in about a year and I hope my kid ends up being half as beautiful as yours. Although I'm the proud owner of an ugly mug, I've been fortunate enough to land myself a hot wife. The way I see it, my kid has a 50/50 chance of being good looking!

@onefortheroad - You too have a great looking family! I'm sure you know this but you are an incredibly blessed individual.

If my eyes serve me right, celticsnuffer, you would be wearing the MacKenzie tartan? I'm a 1/3 Scottish from my mothers side. We're MacDonald of Clanranald. Yup, clan Ronald MacDonald as far as my friends are concerned :) I have the same style of day kilt as you do though except I have a sporran but no belt.

That means you can't be friends with celticsnuffer, right? LOL! :)

Something about a one-eyed woman on an old horse and a church full of MacKenzie's getting burnt down, if I have my stories correct?

Good music chas. I love banjo, as bluegrass, folk and old time country are some of my favorite music.

Thank you very much, gentlemen! I'm glad you guys like it!

@Troutstroker: Have you ever heard of The Avett Brothers? Young guys doing old-timey country and bluegrass (heavily influenced by Townes Van Zandt). They are one of the best new bands I've heard in a long time. Their newest album "Emotionalism" was absolutely amazing! Check them out if you get a chance, you won't be dissapointed.

I'll be checking the Avett Brothers and "Red Fox and the Standard Ox" out tomorrow. Anyone here like the Hangdogs, Flying Burrito Brothers, or Scott Miller and the Commonwealth?

@chas, yes I have heard of The Avett Brothers. I guess it was around 3 years ago I heard them on Sirius Radio. They were on there pushing their new album. I think it was Magnonette? On the new albulm Emotionalism I like: Pretty girl from Chile, In the Curve, Go to Sleep & Tales of Coming News. To me, The Avett Brothers have a style like The Pogues mixed with Bob Dylan. The Pogues and The Dubliners are another good band. Though they are more celtic. The Dubliners version of Whiskey in the Jar is one I listen to a lot.

Actually my tartan is Bailey or in Scottish its Baillie...so there you have it!
  8.  # 59
Some of the older ones I like: Ralph Stanley, Marty Robbins, Buck Owens, Ernest Tubb, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Hank Snow, Hoyt Axton, Woodie Guthrie, Tex Ritter. Flatt & Scruggs & Foggy Mountain Boys, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder. And of course ones like Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Dave Dudley, all the cast of the Highwaymen, Hank Williams Sr. & Jr., Waylon Jennings. I'm not a fan of new country because it seems like they took the country out of it.

'O Brother, Where Art Thou' had some good music in it.

New country in my opinion is basicly just pop music. If you listen closely the note choices and composition is nearly identical to some teeny bopper garbage except for the tempo and instrumentation (though not even that is much diffrent) basicly it doesn't have really dirt in it anymore.
Yes O brother did have a good soundtrack.
