Ozona Raspberry I just got this today so I haven't been able to put a final verdict on it but the two pinches I did take was very enjoyable. This is one of the prime examples of fruity snuffs. Many other fruity just taste a little sweet but haven’t got much of the flavor advertised on the actual package. It is now about 25 minutes since my last pinch of it and the smell of Raspberries is still going strong. A definitive recommendation to anyone that remotely likes fruity and mentholated snuffs!
Wilsons of Sharrow – Cherry Menthol This is truly a gem! This is without a question the snuff I’ve come back to the most. This has been my all day snuff on several occasions and one of my top five easily. I admit, it doesn’t taste much cherry but it’s there. The dominant taste in this one is menthol. Some menthol snuffs go way over the boarder with the menthol and it feels like your head is freezing but this one is in my opinion just right.
Wilsons of Sharrow – Irish High Toast I admit I am not a big fan of this one. The taste is just not that good for me. Irish High Toast is toasted tobacco, and it tastes just like that. I prefer fruity or mentholated (not too much menthol though) but if “toasted tobacco” sounds delicious to you, definitely give it a try.
Samuel Gawith – Strawberry When I first opened this it smelled like fish and I was utterly convinced it was a spawn of Satan. This was before I knew about some snuffs having traces of ammonia in them and that you should let them get some air. The ammonia is supposed to vanish quite fast but I had to give it air occasionally over two weeks before tasted all right. It’s a very sweet snuff but I can’t taste much of that Strawberry that is promised to me. It’s quite good but definitely not one of my favorites.
Samuel Gawith – Jockey Club When opening the tin a smell welcomes me that remind me of strong incense. This is one of the most intense snuffs I have ever taken. The aroma is just overwhelming. It’s certainly nice to take a pinch now and then but I'd rather stop with snuff than having to take it all day long.
I will update with more snuff reviews later.
A little tip, when you get a new order of snuff. Don't take every one of them without blowing your nose once in a while, it starts smelling like shit.
Molen Peppermint This slightly obscure Dutch snuff is like nothing I’ve tried before. I expected a strong peppermint aroma but instead the Latakia tobacco has the lead role here, and the peppermint is a nice background touch. I’m usually not a “plain” guy but snuff damn delicious. The only real negative with this snuff is that it isn't particularly nice to the nose. Do order this at once, or burn in the pits of hell. Just kidding. =)
This is available att www.snuff.me.uk which is an awesome store.
Gawith Hoggarth – Spartan I initially bought this snuff because Spartans are awesome and the description of the taste sounded interesting and different. This is a snuff that is quite hard to categorize. The taste is easiest described as “soft”, certainly not Spartan in that sense. I can distinguish vanilla, very small amount of menthol and maybe (MAYBE) some cinnamon. I have no idea what I’m talking about; it’s really hard because it’s so unique. I like it though so if you are looking to fill your next order with something unique, why not this one?
Nice reviews, I think me and you may have very similar tastes as at this time I to prefer mentholated, mint or scented snuffs over the plain toasted varieties. (This may change once I taste the Spanish Jewel)...
I was especially happy to read a review on Spartan, I've always been curious about that one and always assumed for some reason it would be a strong mint snuff, how wrong I was, lol....It does sound good though and will probably pick some up down the road...
Leonard Dingler - Peach Wow, this smelled fantastic when I opened the tin (which seem to have been opened before when I got it in the mail from Mysmokingshop). I absolutely love peach and this one really gave away the aroma of this wonderful fruit. The grind is somewhat strange, I am actually starting to wonder if something went wrong in production. It's fine grinded except for some small hard bits that aren't particularly nice to sniff. Anyway I did take a pinch and the peach taste isn't as present as it was when opening the tin but it's there. It kinda reminded me of a damp smell, making me suspect it has been stored improperly. The damp smell was fortunately gone in about five minutes and left was the nice smell of peach. Except for the few shortcomings (strange grind and the first damp smell impression) I really like this snuff. If you like peach this is a must buy!
Leonard Dingler - Taxi Red Strong This does smell a little like horsedung and it could be mistaken for it. If the smell was any stronger I'd call it vile but it gets away with being pretty uncomfortable at first. If you miss the smell of old farms I guess you could grow to love this one. The uncomfortable part receeds after a while fortunately. Also, calling this snuff coarse is an understatement, but not the extent that it's that hard to sniff. Actually I find it rather easy to sniff, so that's a good thing, although some of it get stuck in my nosehair and fall right back out again. The huge nicotinehit some people describe is not very present for me. Sure, it might be a little stronger than the english snuffs but definitely not a nicotinebomb.
