Not yet but I hope there are still some left when I make my next order. I just know I'll be like a little kid at Christmas waiting to open a present...anticipation.. excitement...hehehe
I've just received my 200 g Pot Luck and it's a single 6 Photo Medicated No. 66 in a huge container. It is sublime... clean tobacco base, saffron and subtle menthol... the aroma of exotic India exactly as i imagined it. If this is a typical representative of Indian snuff, i must order a bundle soon.
I can't believe how quickly the Pot Luck disappeared. There were 60 odd in the 25g category. It is usually 6 Photo or Toque 25g tins. These are the ones that get damamged the most in transit.
I have ordered 5 of them and I hope it won't be bulks. 1 kg of snuff to Canada is a sure stop at the Customs and probably in the range of 300$ to 500$ in duty.
If it's the case you may see a few pot lucks come back in stock cause there is no way I am paying that amount.
KebAMP - it seems like I saw Roderick give some information to another Canadian. If I recall the tariff on dry snuff is significantly lower than on other types of tobacco. You may want to drop him a note....
I will check with Roderick maybe he has some tips for me. Thanks for the info Slide.
I've had 3 shipments stopped by customs recently. I must be on a red list or something.
One of the package was from MysmokingShop and contained some 50g of twists chewing tobacco and maybe 300g of snuff. They came up with a duty charge of $197. I returned that one back to the sender.
Next I got a package from Mr.Snuff for about 300g and the charge was 70$. This one I paid the duty and recovered the snuff (no chewing tobacco).
Then I received a note last week for a package from Snuff Store (about the same amount of snuff and no chewing tobacco) and this time it came up to 120$. I have until tomorrow to make a choice, but I will most probably return this one too.
Im glad american customs hasn't been that way. Maybe Im in for a world of hurt based on the costs your are describing for canada. I have only paid what toque and Mr. Snuff have stipulated on their websites.
I definitely would be shit shocked if they sent me a bill for several hundred dollars extra.
@KebAMP: best check the regs. Make sure they are only billing you for the NET wt and not the actual weight of the parcel. Also I believe you an ship in up to 200g tax free (but I could be wrong).
I did a quick search on google and found this on the customs website:
In addition, the Excise Act, 2001 also limits the quantity of tobacco products that can be imported (or possessed) by an individual for personal use if the tobacco product is not packaged and stamped "CANADA DUTY PAID ● DROIT ACQUITTÉ." The limit is currently five units of tobacco products. One unit of tobacco products consists of one of the following: • 200 cigarettes; • 50 cigars; • 200 grams (7 ounces) of manufactured tobacco; or • 200 tobacco sticks.
Seems to me the first 200g or maybe if the total is less than 200g NET then you can import it tax free.
Perhaps I need to step back for a while and make smaller orders in the future. Anyway I got plenty of snuff already... but adding to the cart is so much fun!
Rusted from inside out. I transferred half of the content into a smash box, and thrown up the rest as the snuff was sticking to the side and it was stuck into the rust. I recommend you do the same and pull the snuff out of the tin ASAP.
@KebAMP , @mr.snuff I seem to not attract any customs fees when I keep my order under 200 grams. I've recently placed two orders with no duty. One was 60 grams and the other 150. I feel for you KebAMP, I once bought some snus from Northerner. The price of the snus was about $40.00, customs tacked on an additional $120.00.. it was so sad because I had purchsed a DIY kit to save money. It was a 200g tub of tobacco. I paid the price I didn't know returning to sender was an option. Hope I never have to.
@johnnyFriday: so you are the culprit. We had the potluck up for five minutes before you bought it ALL!! I had to laugh. I was just about to post it here when I saw the order come through. I couldn't believe it! You got a pretty good deal by the looks of things. Even I don't know what is in the potluck box.
@Vito445: you need to let me know if you receive damaged tins. We'll ship you replacements if you like; but at the very least knuckles need to be rapped at the warehouse.
I think Johnny's knuckles need to be rapped for buying up all the potluck like that, lol. Ah well, there'll always be more.....now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to Mr. Snuff's warehouse with a hammer and some sandpaper.
@mr.snuff I live in the United States, and you are shipping me snuff from England, I would expect to get a few tins damaged en route. I only had a few tins damaged total, a 25g viking, a couple 25g SGs, and a 5g toque. I can't place blame on rough transit. However I did have one case of a GH 25g having a bent inward rim where you screw the cap on, therefore there was always an opening between the cap and the container. Some of the snuff was inside the package, but the real issue was that it was dried out... one day I will get to try fresh English Rose :-??

Agree LikeJust placed a (very)large order, about $140 after discount, if that's useful, and the shipping was a little over $40.
I missed out on the potluck too, but that's ok..

Agree LikeYou may want to see if a buddy will let you mail it to his place. Nothing illegal about sending it somewhere else...
But if my memory is correct they may owe you money on what you have already paid.
Good luck!
