I'm originally French and was wondering since I haven't read about this so far... is there a French brand of snuff? If so, how would I get around to acquiring some?
I do know that they just passed more smoking ban laws in France along with what they already had, so maybe this would be a good time for some Snuff Mills to open there. And I know France made a lot of snuff boxes. But don't off the top of my head know of a French snuff available. Do they have a ban of making tobacco products?? I know they have a ban on tobacco advertising.
I don't know if that's a French brand, but it's sold in France: http://www.i-chew.com/shop2/sindex.php?id_prev=754&id_contact=65&PHPSESSID=f242e4a9a2b1841c88c11ccc802605a1
French cigarettes are the most foul things imaginable. (Gauloise in particular) They reek from a block away. I inhaled one, once. They have a great appreciation for food and wine, but the French nose for tobacco is not so famous. Very odd.
Well, there are always the French-themed tobaccos: Old Paris, Bordeaux and French Carotte, for example. But, all searching for a French snuff-mill has turned up nil thus far. Good luck.
I'm with you there Stich. More than 20 years ago I spent a summer in a place called Grimaud, in the south of France, drawing portraits for a few francs each, blissfully fooling myself, and the people I drew, that I was an artist and all the time I was puffing away on Marlboro’s. Towards the end of that summer I had very little money left, the punters must have wised up to my lack of talent, and I was forced to buy a packet of Gauloise (half the price). Not only were they foul, but I couldn’t speak for a week and had a sore throat for a month. In hindsight I realized I should have taken a few tins of snuff. I have never seen a French snuff but now is the time. Maybe there is some Morrocan snuff for sale in France? I wait with bated breath to see what comes of the French smoking ban on the first of January.
