We have 1000’s of old fashioned 10 and 25 gram round tins and tubes, but never sold toque in that way as we thought everyone wanted a modern image.
A few people have been asking for old fashioned tins, have we got it wrong?

Hi Roderick. I am fairly new to taking snuff but have tried a number of varieties so far. I have not yet tried Toque yet partly because I like to pinch from a tin, though I hear your snuff is very good. I personally would love to see you sell in tins (maybe you should introduce a Toque Classic line sold from tins??).

I would SO buy multiple tins if they came in cool old fashioned style containers.

One of the things I like about snuff is that (not unlike pipe smoking) it conjures images of the finer things from times past. There is a sense of old-timey elegance to it that I don't get from most other forms of tobacco. Obviously this is just one man's opinion, but I enjoy giving my snuff collection a spot in my display case directly under my pipe stands and tobacco tins. To non-snuffers it is quite the curiosity. The old fashioned-ness about it gives it a distinguished feel and to me, that is half of the appeal.

    Hi Roderick,
I wouldn't say you've got it wrong. I think the 'modern snuff' idea is good and the bullets definitely have their place.
However, I would say that one of the many attractions of snuff to me is it's history and association with the a bygone era; a gentlemanly, more refined pursuit, however misplaced this may be...
Personally, I love the look of the old fashioned tubes sold by Fribourg and Treyer..! That said I'll just stick it in my snuffbox anyway whatever package it comes in...

I personally like the bullet design and am a big fan of the poschl containers as they are very useful on the go. I'm young (21) so I probably fit the sterotype of liking things modernized and practical. Why not try to appeal the the old and the new?

I thought bullets were really cool, but for finer snuffs, I much prefer to pinch, so a standard tin is best for me. Now I very rarely use any bullet, preferring the pinch with all my snuffs, and occasionally back-hand a full-textured snuff.

I agree with most I guess on the case...I like the old fashion snuff look even though I'm only 26 antiques are one of my favorite things!! An example I got some Spanish Jewel from my buddy Pedro and I took them from the plastic bags and the snuff went into cobalt screw type containers...

    Just my two cents,

If you really want to go old fashioned, you need to do what I do. Get a nice old wood box to keep your snuff in. Really gives you that "old fashioned snuff look & nostalgic feel"

@ Roderick, your doing it right. Your setting yourself apart from everyone else & and giving it your own style. There is no need to put yourself in the rut with everyone else doing the same old thing.

Would shipping out bigger, bulkier packages filled with tins have any effect on the free post?

I wouldn't make any sweeping changes just yet Roderick. Your company is small enough to be nimble and make changes quickly, but that's not always the best thing to do. I think your bulk bags are already a good step, but don't confuse us by losing the bullet. If you ever do introduce new packaging don't lose the "Original Bullet", just add the "New Xg tin!" or "Now with collector snuff box". It makes for great marketing hype.

I like that "Now with collector snuff box". Maybe we should have another competition, the best new/old snuff tins. Whatever we introduce, the bullet will run along side.

I'd buy Toque if it came in tins. Merdock, I like your design. I'm not sure I care so much for the "collector's" part, as many things tagged as such usually aren't. But the design looks nice :)

    Maybe something like this...

I can’t help thinking this could be the start of a new business. A web based design studio where design ideas are requested and budding designers contribute at a fraction of the cost of the big design studios.
I can see these designs on an old fashioned rectangle tobacco tin.

A hinged faux wood looking 'box' like the one Troutstroker is holding might be nice, however I would have to see one first, it may look a little Kitschy. I don't know if you could mass market an item such as that, since the idea behind the snuff-box has to do also with the personality/character of its owner.

Roderick, the tin designs will of course be spoilt by the hideous health warning - would it be legal to have that just as a sticker that could be peeled off?

I think tins and bullets together are a good idea and you would cover more of the market, don't forget the tens of thousands of old conservative snuffers that wouldn't dream of using anything in a bullet

Did you notice that poschl ones don't have a big hideous label, what are the "laws" about the "warning" labels?

When I buy poschl snuffs localy (the only ones they sell are ozano) which does have the warning label slaped on it. I think in Germany they don't need the warning on snuffs. Though in america and england the labels are required. As if someone who is getting in to snuff has no idea about the dangerous of tobacco.
  7.  # 25
Even the Poschls from Germany have the warning. The ones I get from Rajek's have the warning in German. Most of the German Poschl labels are hideous with big white background & bold black letters & takes up almost the whole back of container.

What I get here locally just has in small print warning, nothing all that intrusive.

I had to look for the warning on my cans of poschl. It was small and on the side. No big sticker like I was expecting.
