I'm new to the snuff scene, going on my 3rd week and enjoy it! Of all people my girl friend turned me on with ozona orange. Anyway my local cigar shops carry Poschl at one and wilsons at the other. I love all the Poschl I've tried, for the menthol and the moist consistency in all their lines. I didn't like wilsons much, a lot of this due to the dry and dusty nature (my girlfriend agrees, my friend loves it so I just gave some to him) crumbs of comfort was ok by them.

Anyway I'm looking for something like poschl for me, my girlfriend loved the wilsons flavors better, and it being non-menthol but still does poschl often because it's not so dusty. Any suggestion on what brands to try next?

I'll probably be ordering from mars since all the rave reviews, and good prices, so any brand on there would be helpful. I'm thinking about ordering some from Toque also since I think I'll like the menthol ones and my girlfriend and friend should love the chocolate and espresso ones, and the bullets are just slick to boot.

Is it odd I know two young women that also love this wonderful st(n)uff? Actually I've only had one friend try it that just didn't like it at all everyone else has loved it, I gave my co-worker a wilsons tin and he says hes already cutting back smoking dramatically! This stuff is contagious!

    Thanks

    -Chris

As far as menthol goes, nothing beats McChrystal's Original and Genuine in my opinion.

The De Kralingse/Dutch Windmill - Pompadour is AMAZING! It's not mentholated at all and it tastes like cloves. Very good stuff.

I agree, nothing beats MCOG for menthol, and the wilsons crumbs of comfort is my fav of their line I've had, seconded by the royal george. which is non menthol. and everyone I give it to says it smells like soap.

pompadour is excellent! But this is coming from a clove cigg smoker.

    Welcome to the forum.

Hello and welcome to the forum unChris. Well since you like the moist type menthol snuff, I would say give McCrystals Original & Genuine (O&G) a try, they carry 2 sizes and the larger is in stock.. Its not my one of my favorites, but I'm the rare one. Everyone else gives it glowing reviews. McCrystals has a few others you might like but are out of stock at the moment.

I don't know which Poschl brands you have tried so far, but if you haven't tried these ones yet, I would recommend you buy Gletscherprise, President, Packards Club, Apricot & you might give Cola a try.

Toque is a good choice as well. The Espresso is one of my favorites.

You might want to give a few other Wilsons a try such as: SM 500, SM Blue, Menthol Plus or you might even try one of the Wilsons Gift Box It will give you a nice sampling.

    Thank you.

I used to smoke cloves :).

I'll have to give McCrystals a try then.

I've tried nearly all the easily obtainable ones of Poschl besides the cola, this head shop wanted 8 bucks for it! I'll wait till I online order it.

$8 for a 10g of snuff? WTF was it made out of gold instead of tobacco?
I would have had to laugh my way out of the shop and never go back.

I do the same thing anytime I go in a best buy, people ask me if I need help, I'm like, no I just wanted to see the product Newegg has for half the price in my hands before I buy it from there.

What cloves did you smoke? all I can find here locally are Djarums, and I've switched from lights to blacks since they changed the filter on them.

I smoked mostly Djarum Blacks, I also liked the menthol and the specials on occasion. Always wanted to try the Bali Hais or whatever there called.

Finally broke down and placed my order for two cans of rooster at MarsCigars.com based on Macalpe's rave reviews of it. He seems to love it so much I have to try it.

Oh man, merdock69, Rooster is a good one! Macalpe knows (nose) what he's talking about on this one.

Would it be blasphemous to compare it IHT #22? It has a stronger kick and flavor but my nostrils detect some striking similarities.

That is blasphemy!!!! Shame shame everyone knows your name...There's no comparison except for the fact that they are both tobacco. But you could compare it to Bruton. Rooster has been in my top pick for as long as I have been using snuff. Right along side Levi, Jewel & the newly acquired Stoker's.

In my own defense, I've only been snuffing for a few months. I still have some development to do on the old 'strils.

If it's any consolation, I do prefer the Rooster :)

Yes, it does take time to fine tune the ol' proboscis!

And yes, it is consolation.. LOL

Don't let him get to you. He gets frustrated with me over emails all the time when I compare snuffs too. LOL.

LOL thanks omegapd! I just know now not to compare something he likes to something he doesn't like as much as the the thing I'm comparing it to. :)

The man knows his snuffs though. I'll give him that. Troutstoker's info has been invaluable in my snuff selections as has yours for that matter.

Oh come on now omegapd, I've never gotten frustrated in our emails!!! I may have shaken my head a few times. LOL

And chas, I was just being sarcastic & agreeing with what you already said about it being blasphemy. ;~)

Sarcasm is just one of the many free services I offer!!!

Ha Yeah, a friend of mine years back bought me one of those beer can cozies with that written on it. Still use it all the time when I want to keep the beer cold like a day at the lake or on the river in the summer time. The saying just fits me so I use it from time to time.

LOL, I know you were Troutstroker. Your sarcasm makes you one of the more entertaining posters on this forum :)

I was serious, however, about your information and opinions being completely invaluable to the majority of my snuff purchases.

I figured you did, but wanted to make sure. Your words make me happier than a dog up a bone tree. c];~)
