Yes the bottles work. I used a big gallon jar like the one on the homepage of specialtybottle.com before I got my canisters. It worked fine.

The two I am looking at right now are, a plastic jar type with a humidor in the lid which will retail below $30.00 and a traditional wooden humidor with 5 variable size sections to hold Toque bullets, small tins, large tins and any other combinations. Hope to have them in the special offers section on the Toque website later this month.

I'll have to go with Pedro on this one for my snuff that is....pipe tobacco and cigars a different in many ways but snuff is pretty basic like food keep air light and rising and lower temperatures to a minimum and it will be fine. I smoke pipes and cigars so the who humidity things is a serious issue in those departments!!

    Have a pinch gents

I recently posted this on another forum but thought it might be of interest here also. If you do start collecting make sure you store them Correctly. Snuff can suffer just like cigars. Don’t store in the fridge unless you have a sealed container and even then I would be worried as aromas from food can pervade even the tightest seal. Don’t store other snuffs in the same container as snuffs are very susceptible to cross-tainting. Don’t store with other forms of tobacco as snuffs can easily absorb their aromas, also other tobaccos can bring with them the worm lacioderma which in the right humid conditions hatches into a tiny brown beetle (who’s name I just can’t remember). Not only will it eat your snuff, it won’t do your nose much good either. I hope that's not put you off snuff collecting which is a great hobby and an enjoyable pastime. I personally like my snuff as fresh as I can get it.

    @ Troutstroker:
How much bulk snuff does a gallon jar hold? I'd like to order some bulk snuff and am curious how big a jar I need.

Well that would all depend on if your are going to store loose snuff in the jar or are you looking to store cans of snuff in the jar? Also the shape of the jar. The best bet is to go with a wide gallon instead of a tall gallon. With a wide gallon you can store 4 of the 4-5 oz tubs plus 6 of the 1 oz tubs and a few others of various sizes. Now if your just going to store loose snuff it would probably hold like 2 lbs or more.

Are you planning on buying bulk as in a lot of small can, large cans or bulk of loose to pour into jar?

I may store within my glass jars nearly 1 kgs. (2 pounds).

Roderick, that is a very scary story... And I though that tobacco was a natural pest repellant?

Preferably all of the above :D But I am thinking of the jars for loose snuff. Between my freinds who snuff and I, I think a pound would go quick enough to warrant it. For tins and containers, I typically leave those in my "smoke table"'s drawer, with no ill effect.
