    Here's what I have in mind (I don't know how put a poll in here or if its possible) so here goes:
    (I will post the question then post my own reply about myself)
    what 'core' would most of us call ourselves in four areas I can think of in terms of nasal snuffing:

    Usage
    Knowledge
    Scent detection
    Interest

    usage: hardcore
    (really spiked way up there the past few days, I think I went through several bullets' worth just yeterday -- am trying to us up the usable bullets I have but have no other containers for their contents)
    I sometimes hit them like a monkey with an itch at a level (bet I'm snuffing amounts with the best of you here in this way heh)

    knowlege: lightcore
    (which is why I am here, there are some extremely impressive 'hardcore in knowledge' people here)

    Scent Detection: lightcore
    (I can't pick out all those subtle things other people seem to be able to most of the time.. my detection skills so far seem to be just five catagories

    smokey/toasted = potbellied wood stove/I like,
    no flavor/no zing = like dirt/I don't like
    zing/no flavor == kinda hurts/I don't like
    scented = blows me over/I don't like
    menthol = blows me over/I don't like

    (I just don't have 'hint of spring morning standing on a hill in Tennessee with a light morning dew" or whatever capable of reviews and all that going on)

    Interest: hardcore
    (spending my free time reading here and the reviews pages, window shopping the sites, doing all kinds of screwy google searches etc etc)

    You can't kick my ass here! Maybe someplace else, but most definitely not here.

    Well, I'm not sure if 'light-core' and 'medium-core' are the other 'cores', but I'll do my best. (Ueerhh??)

    Usage= Probably a four or five out of ten, so.. Uhh.. Medi-o-core? (Har har!) I only go through about a gram a day, and that's at the MOST- so it would take me like a month just to get to the bottom of one 25g tin. And if it's stuff that's fairly light and dry, even longer, especially if other things get in the way of my snuffing.

    Knowledge= 4. I can't seem to find a whole lot of information on snuff or mills and things, I try to read what I can about tobacco, but I haven't owned or read any actual books on it (yet!). I want to, though- I think some of the knowledge simply builds up with time, and I also need to read more about history, in general, to get a more even keeled view of tobacco and its place in it. I'm still a neophyte in many ways.

    Scent detection= 6-7. Sometimes my nose is a wee bit dead, but I like to spend time analyzing perfumes as well as snuff, and I do notice subtle nuances in snuff. Snuff is a fun challenge sometimes, because you can only sniff so much of it to determine notes in the scent before you're too clogged to really 'smell' the perfume anymore. It's like a race to do more! (And there's no way of losing a race like that, really!)

    Interest= 8. Whenever I pass a tobacco shop I'll go in there to check their snuff, I spend quite a fair bit of time either using it/discussing/reading/searching/buying/organizing/ogling/analyzing, I check here pretty regularly also. I post less than I read, but I do like to read.

    As far as usage goes I would consider myself fairly light, though I have been ordering a vast number of varieties to try, as well as telling many people about snuff and reading up heavily on the topic. Thus I feel my interest in/knowledge of snuff is rapidly growing. As for scent detection, I feel I came in with a pretty refined palate which I partially contribute to my pipe smoking which required me to detect subtle differences in tobaccos in order to be able to fully appreciate them.

    I'm ashamed...am a hard-core in usage, knowlagde, interest. Don't know about scent detection - I'll run a test.

    Usage: Medium
    Knowledge: Medium
    Scent detection: Hardcore
    Interest: Medium

    I don't use as much as I used to, mainly because I also indulge in snus and chew these days. As for my knowledge, I know who makes what (except Hedges L260 - that's a mystery) and that tobacco is milled, moisturised, scented and matured (and ultimately sniffed). I work in the drinks industry so I hope my scent detection is good (my girlfriend thinks so). My interest is medium, in that I do have other interests!
