I took a delivery of some Gawith Hoggarth Kendal Brown & McChrystals S'Nuff Smokers Blend yesterday, and am very disappointed in both.
The GH Kendal Brown seems very dry, almost gritty, and the flavour is one of stale cigar butts. Never having tried other varieties of Kendal Brown, I have nothing to compare it with, but this a disappointing experience.
The McChrystals S'Nuff Smokers Blend very much reminds of "Toque Tobacco in a Tin", but rougher. I like Toque Tobacco, but S'Nuff is not as smooth, and in fact is the only snuff that makes me cough when taking it !
Hello Jeffster, may you tell me where you bought this snuffs ?...G&H Kendal Brown is a coarse snuff, I tried it some time ago and was not a happy experience. And about McCrystal I may not to tell you, but when you say "rough" is because is TOO dry, or "old" inside the tin. I would like to hear your opinion.
Pedro, I'd love to try a snuff from a Spanish old master, thank you. I will look out for your order in September and wait with baited breath for you’re opinion of my humble efforts in making quality snuffs. I have gone a little crazy and spent rather a lot of money on the finest oils for my snuffs, but I think it will be worth it. Regards Roderick P.S. I am also still very interested in trying the Morroccan snuff. There could be some interesting essence in these snuffs that I could use to blend something very exotic.
Quick addition to this, guys.. I also haven't got on with McChrystal's S'nuff. This is weird, because I love the base tobacco taste of all McChrystal's snuffs, and indeed, I like all the other McChrystal's snuffs I've tried. And love a few of them. Actually it has to be said that I did finish off the (small) tin of S'nuff I ordered - the nicotine is good, and I found S'nuff worked well in blends. But in terms of plain high nicotine I'd go for Tom Buck, or my latest joyous discovery De Kralingse Latakia Ao 1860.
As regards Kendal Browns I haven't tried GH, but Wilson's (Sharrow) is nice, sweet and far from "cigarette butts". The F&T KB is very similar, but a slight preferrence for some reason. More grown up taste? May even be down to the tin!
