Could someone enlighten me as to mentholated snuff ingredients and their perceived effect?
Specifically I'm trying currently to suss out the (precise) difference between McChrystal's Sturco and O&G and Wilson's (Sharrow) classics such as Extra Menthol, Prime Minister, SM500, Aniseed Extra etc.
It seems to me that Menthol is about "very cool/cold an sharp with a touch of mintiness".
Camphor is I think about "warming, comforting, less lingering - a touch numbing".
Eucalyptus I'm unsure about, but I guess is part of the O&G mix.
And then, what difference does a citrus component make, and why is it that Sturco + Prime Minister is in some ways more "clearing" and (pleasantly) sneezy than Extra Menthol - previously the most powerful mentholated snuff in my opinion?
I suppose I could ask the manufacturers about precise ingredients, but they wouldn't necessarily tell me!
I know from experience with oils and extracts that diffrent menthols and diffrent camphors and eucalyptuses are all diffrent in charector. One of my favorite menthol oils I had an almost woody scent to it. Reminded me of certain tree saps (though it was certainly menthol). Some are sweeter then others. I've had eucalyptus with very rangeing degrees of citrus undertones very ranging. Plus how much you use really makes a diffrence.
