    Hi Alex:
I have been lurking for a while now, and I have to say that this is a great forum. As an avid snuff addict I find a lot of the comments pertinent and helpful. I strongly believe that we are on the brink of snuff once again becoming the pre-eminent means of nicotine consumption. It truly is pleasurable, both as a means of satisfying the physical need as well as the psychological. I see nicotine as just another socially acceptable drug like caffeine or alcohol. Done properly it is so much more than simply getting it to the brain. Personally, I love the paraphenalia and the ceremony (tap, tap). It is great to see such avid fans on your site.

    Keep up the good work.

    That's it.....more later.

    Dave

    Welcome Dave,

I can only agree upon the ceremony. As making a cup of tea, this is an important part of the whole 'taking snuff' procedure. I am glad you found your way here and I am looking forward to some nice comments from your side.

    Regards,
    Alex

I suppose all forms of tobacco consumption have their ceremony and snuff is no different. However, as taking snuff is a minority sport these days, I do wonder about whether one should do it openly. Is it ostentations or attention-seeking to take snuff in public? What if one is on the train at one of those tables where you sit face to face. Would it be acceptable to snuff while the person opposite was reading their book?

    Welcome Matthew!
There is a nice story I read in one of the German books. One guy sitting on the train in the exact situation you described. After having some pinches people start to whisper. He thinks 'attack is the best form of defence' and offer a pinch to the people sitting around. This starts a discussion whether taking snuff nowadays is still a thing to do or not. After a while some people actually had a pinch and formed a nice chat round.
Even though this story is some years old, it might be true nowadays. As long as you don't disturb someone, go ahead. If they give you a bad look, offer them a pinch and wait for their reactions. That's my advice. Nevertheless, I don't pinch a lot in public.

hi ,alex your comment reminded me of one print advertisement done by parags(my husband) grandfather(being snuff producer).in that avertisement it was a picture of one old gentelman offering snuff to people sitting in bus.slogen was...to start conversation with unknown people use the trick to offer dholakia snuff...but in todays time it is not practical...but i am sure one day will come when people will again start taking snuff in public without hesitation...at that time all the credit will go to people like you who are working hard to spread snuff popularity. . ... purely dedicated to snuff.
