Good job Jarhog. I too pray that this becomes a "sticky" and also that the old thread is closed and retired. It was more of a chat thread than a reference thread anyway.
Now sniffing Toque Toffee (yummy), just wrote a review for snuffstore on it.

Can't help on that on GoldenBoy as I've never had Tranters T&L but myself and ermtony have had few other Tranters and all where slightly different to the Wilsons even if it is a sure bet Wilsons make the snuff for Tranters.

I have read both that they are the same and that they are different, Snuff Head. I will however, bow to your experience on this, as I have never tried the Tranters. They have a few unique flavors too? Or just the same ones that Wilson's has? The only online place to get it is mysmokingshop?

Hmm, somebody posted in the old thread.

Jaxons English Toffee just finishing up in my nose. I think I'll have Bespoke Real Coffee next.

@ Xander cant see any Tranter snuff at My Smocking Shop I got mine direct from Tranters mail order Cigar Connoisseur)

I'm on Tranters Hobsons Choice now, not my favorit as it is very much like Wilsons Crumbs Of Comfort.

Yeah, I just fumbled through the list of stores. Cigar Connoisseur is the one. Seems to be assocoiated with the brick and mortar Frderick Tranter's Shops. I'm looking at it now. There is quite a variety in the FTs. They do have a lot of different names that Wilson's does not, however they also have one called Crumbs of Comfort. I wonder how it compares to Wilson's and your Hobson's choice.
It will have to wait for me I'm afraid. I need to make some more money before I spend any more on snuff, but I will make a mental note to go back to this shop in the future.
Maybe Alex could make a note in the list of vendors in the FAQ that would say Cigar Connoisseur(exclusive seller of Frederick Tranter)
That whole list needs a bit of a revision if you ask me, as does Poo Diddy's price/availablity comparison chart. There have been a lot of new stores, new snuffs and changes in availabilty since he wrote it.

Oh, still snuffing Bespoke Real Coffee. I'm not sure what to make of this one yet. Its really good but I'm not getting a lot of coffee flavor.

I have never tried any Tanters snuff. Is it a subsidiary of Wilson's? I only ask because the labels are so similar and several of the flavours are as well.
Are these snuffs worth trying out?

Dixie Sweet for me now. At first I couldn't pick up any fruit flavor, just sweet. Now The fruit flavor is coming through, and it's well on it's way toward my favorite sweet snuff.

Hi Snuffy, Tranter's is a small chain of shops, of fairly long standing. it's been quite a while since I've ordered snuffs from them, I can only recall that, back to back, their Crumbs of Comfort was the same as Wilson's C of C.

Just finished Samuel Gawith's Gold Mull, which I've really been enjoying, and will move to F&T's High Dry Toast. I seem to have finally acquired the knack for the dusty snuffs!

OT...If you're a pipe smoker and you'll be ordering snuff from Tranter, you must get some of their pipe tobacco; the blends are unique to them, for the most part. Comfort of Bath is a revelation!

    @leman:

The Dixie takes some time to kick in, but it's easily taken and quite good. I think that we are some of the few people on here that have tried it.

@Alcyon-Thanks for the info. I will definitely have to order some of their snuffs to see what they are about. It's not often you find a snuff company you haven't heard of.
    Thanks again!

ap - I've been on the SG SP Scotch too. I was wondering whether your snuff was moist or dry? SP Scotch is advertised on the Sam Gawith website as moist, but mine is dry (and is not an old sample). Enjoyable snuff though.

Regarding Tranters, I tried their Irish D High Toast No20 and their Irish High Toast No22 recently and they are definitely slightly different to the Wilsons versions.

Also, their Country Doctor is listed as Aniseed and Eucalyptus, but it's very different to (and much tastier than) the Wilsons equivalent.

I'm currently on Wilsons Ice Liqourice. Nice, if a bit too much menthol for my taste.

Thanks for the recommnendations, Farley. I will eventually check all of those out. I have the Wilson's Aniseed & Eucalyptus, its nice (but only for occasional use) but if FT is better I'd be happier. I think its more like fennel than aniseed anyway. Also I agree with you on Ice Liqourace. I'd prefer less or no menthol in it, but its ok on occasion.
