    Hello,

does anybody know how to get the Covent Snuffs from Mullins & Westley, London ? They have a small shop in London, but I couldn´t find an email-adress or a homepage. I have attached some photos of Covent-Tins.

    Welcome Martin!
I don't know anything about these snuffs, to be honest. They look very interesting anyway. Maybe anyone else can help out here?

You might wish to check the swiss snuff shop I just posted above, I don't see the covaent snuff listed but they may be able to provide you with some info as the following is taken directly from their front page.

    Breeze GmbH - Company History
Breeze GmbH is a business for snuff and accessories. The company was founded in 1997 by Thomas Fritsche located in Winterthur, Switzerland. The philosophy of Breeze is relatively simple:

Breeze wants to be known for high-quality snuff and for extraordinary customer service.Breeze delivers within 24 hours to anywhere in Switzerland. Breeze has consistent quality assurance.

This philosophy guarantees the Breeze customer a consistently high-quality product.

Initially McChrystals was the only brand of snuff sold by Breeze. However, the satisfied customers of Breeze eventually wanted a wider selection of snuff products. After careful evaluation, Breeze decided to also offer Covent brand snuff.

Actually they do have the Covent Keen Snuff listed for sale, it is very expensive compared to the others..

I have emailed Martin at McGahey's to see if the Covent can be had anywhere. I also asked again about the Tradesman line someone had mentioned-- never got a reply on the "ask Martin" page, so maybe a direct email will work better.

Martin McGahey says you can't get the Covent or Tradesman anymore. But then, he also says that his snuff listing is complete, and that's not so. Davy's Segar and Snuff Parlour in Covent Garden appears to carry Covent tobaccos, but I don't know if that includes the snuffs or not, as they don't have an online shop. I will give them a call and find out.

Thank you all for your comments and the kind welcome in the group.

    @Poo-Diddy:
I have contacted the site of Breeze GmbH a few months ago. I asked for the other covent-snuffs, which are not listed for sale. They answered, that they could get them for me, but I would have to buy 12 tins of each type. Such a tasting of snuff would become really expensive, so I decided not to order at this shop. Now I am looking for an occasion to buy single tins, but did not find any so far.

I think it is also difficult to get american dry snuffs in Europe, especially in Germany. I have contacted the big online-shops in the USA. The most do not ship outside the USA. One shop I have found which would ship to germany (ziggymart.com), but they just sell packs of twelve tins of one type.

Just a FYI regarding Covent snuffs: a friend in the UK phoned Davy's and was told that the snuff is made by Wilson's. Interesting, no?

That's an interesting piece of information, indeed. Someone should ask Wilson's where to get it.

It's available at Davy's Segar and Snuff Parlour in Covent Garden. No website, though, the bastidges. I've arranged to obtain one of each; I'll let you know what they're like.

Now that a generous friend in the UK has sent me these snuffs, I can assure anyone interested in them that they're not really worth getting excited about, except for the "I've got a hard-to-get-snuff, nyah nyah nyah" factor. Their Wilsons'-y nature is evident. In fact, the Mature Crumbled is indistinguishable from Wilsons' SP, which is too bad, because that's a great name for a snuff. Not that it's all bad or anything, just nothing, you know, special.

I have one of their snuffs so far. It's Keen Scented. Its consistency is similar to the other English Snuffs, it means Wilsons Of Sharrow and Samuel Gawith. Its aroma is nice, but I think it's only good snuff. Not bad but not very good either. Ifeel in it some sour fruits and a little mint. Aroma isn't strong and disapear after a few minutes, but it's only my opinion. It might be great snuff for You, so try it! :)

Few words about how I got it - I asked Lob19, if he could buy and ship to me some snuffs when he was going to London. He agree, I paid, and now, I've got it. Very easy, don't You think so? :)

    Hello,

the Mullins & Westley snuffs can be ordered via Snuffstore.de (http://www.snuffstore.de/onlineshop/index.php/cat/c69_Mullins---Westley.html).

Unfortunately they only dispatch within Germany.

I have sample of M&W Keen Scented that NoseBag at snuffstore.co.uk kindly gave me, after he visited London recently. I don't think it is a good description, to me it is heavy menthol and very similar, but a little darker to Wilsons S.M. 500

I have a couple of tins of this stuff - 'Keen' and 'particular'. It is nothing to right home about. I am a big fan of Wilsons, but not of these two

Trout - Do you have any idea of when a company like Wilsons manufactures for someone else, whether it is just one of their exisiting snuffs re-packaged or made to order? I can't place these as Wilsons snuffs, although they are pretty old

Altough I haven't tried the original one
    Correct me if I'm mistaken

snuffster, from what I understand they do both. Even some of the "special flavors" are just two existing flavors mixed or and existing flavor just made stronger or weaker. Like Frederick Tranters has some flavors just like the regular Wilsons just renamed. But they also have some of their own flavors.

Oddly enough, I was in their shop just on Friday. They do a very undistinguished "own brand" pipe tobacco too. I had a sniff of all four of their snuffs - there was nothing there to pique the interest at all.

Covent Snuffs from Mullins & Westley, as far as I can gather the snuffs are made by Wilson’s and just labelled for or by Davy's Segar and Snuff Parlour in Covent Garden, hence the Covent on the labile and the picture is of the old Covent Garden market in London were Davy's Segar and Snuff Parlour is located. Hope this is of some help
Not the best snuff in the world but worth giving it a go just to say you have tried it.

I'd agree that the Mature Crumbled and Particular are nothing to write home about, but I really like their Jock's Choice. It's similar in flavour to - but stronger than - F&T Seville, with a slightly coarser grind.

(The full address is 27A The Piazza by the way).
