i was snuff shopping at my local tobacoonist and noticed little containers of "oliver twist". the package said that it was a non expectorating chew. so i picked up a wintergreen to give it a try. ive never heard of it before then and had no expectations before trying it.
its not bad! its good for when im working my part time clerk job. little bits of tobacco twists and seriously no spitting required! i would take a pinch of snuff over that any day but its a good descreet oral tobacco. i try to stay away from oral tobaccos ever since i quit dipping skoal a few years back. but I cave into temptation from time to time tho and Ive tried snus which is good but its cut to fine for me to really enjoy.
but anyways the only negative things i can say about this is its lack of flavor but i guess this comes with being "spitless" and the other thing is the price. it was 5 dollars and change for a tiny box... 1/4 oz. i guess thats not too expensive but i need to use a 3 or 4 bits to get my desired lift. if i used it fulltime i would prbly go through 2-3 boxes a day. but i think i will stick to this stuff in those times i know i wont be able to get a pinch in for a while or whenever i get get that temptation :)
has anyone else tried this stuff? what do you think of it? anyone know the process in which its made? and health wise how is it? either way if you havent tried this stuff i would recomend giving it a try! if you can't find a source for it, let me know and i'll gladly arrange somthing for you.
I used to use the Seniors, once upon a time. Not bad. You can get them cheaper right here. They are a bit expensive, though the way they're compressed makes them last a while. Compared to Skoal or suchlike, it probably works out about the same (not by weight, but by dose/dollar). They're more convenient to carry and use than loose snus, that's for sure. Before you give up on them as being too wimpy, check out the Seniors-- they're larger and a little stronger.
My only complaint about them is that they dry out too fast. They're best when they're still kinda gummy. The box doesn't seal well enough; I used to keep my box in a small ziplock for that reason.
I spotted this stuff @ My Tobacconist once...Figured I'd Give it a Try. Not Bad-- Not Great-- But Not Bad. I found I tried Wintergreen and Tropical I think. In Fact.....I Just Looked, I Still Have some Sealed in Plastic!!! Anyone Want it???
I've tried the Original version, unflavored. They taste for all the world like Slim Jims. :) They have a use IMHO, but they could never be my only form of tobacco.
Like the sticker on the bottom of the box says, they're best for "secret tobacco satisfaction." I take a pinch of snuff (or stub out your smoke) before going into what's supposed to be a tobacco-free situation, and pop the Twist under my top lip 15 or so minutes before I think you're going to need more nicotine--especially when dired out, they can take a while to "get going"... You can also gently chew on them now and again to get more nicotine and flavor out before parking it again, but this will require a little spitting.
They have this stuff at my local tobacconist. They have the little tins as well as a sampler pack. For fifty cents American, you can get the sampler which includes at least two pieces (most pouches contain three or four...I know, it's still not much, but not bad for fifty cents) of every flavor and type they make. I have to say, I was actually impressed. I've never been a fan of chewing tobacco. I mean, the taste is OK...some are actually pretty good, but I've never been able to stand the burn in my throat and all the spitting. This stuff was the first chewing tobacco I could actually tolerate longer than two minutes! I still have some, but I've tried most of 'em. I'll probably take a long time to go through all the stuff, as I'm exclusively a snuffer now, but I guess it is nice to have around for any time you don't think you'll be able to get a pinch!
I just tried the Tropical flavor Oliver Twist and freaking love it! This is the first chew I can stand chewing/eating. I used to chew on Kodiak and Grizzly, but that taste now makes me want to puke every time I get the littlest whiff. The Tropical OT tastes like black liquorish bits!! I have to keep reminding myself to not swallow the juices, hahaha. I get a discount on it.. only costs me 3 bucks, which is alot for a TINY, miniscule amount of tobacco, but it's the best I've had so far, and I admit that I haven't had many different kinds.
I have tried the Original flavor OT and I thought that is genuinely tasted like my old baseball mitt's leather strings. It wasn't as nice tasting as my old baseball mitt, ultimately. I don't recommend original flavor.
Then you probably don't want to try the Oliver Twist Senior. It taste like you stuck your tongue in a dirty ashtray full of old wet cigarettes. Sunberry. Tropical and Citrus are all good.
