    Hi,

I just got my Toque order and can see I should be buying in Bulk. I am ordering Ten Gram Tins because I reckon they are pocket size, but still a little large, and you have to unscrew them which is good, but having a hole in the side like the ozona might be convenient for dumping it on your hand. Otherwise, maybe pinching is better ?.

So now I am in search for a good snuffbox. I am curious what characteristics you all look for in your snuff boxes. I do have Oliver Twists boxes (and have thrown some out shamefully). They are plastic and 2" X 1.25" X 0.5". The lid is not that snug and so could fall off... maybe there is a way to make it tighter otherwise, do you see any reason one of those wouldn't work well? I love the Packard's box, something like that would be nice. Are there any other candy boxes etc...that would work well for a snuff box?

If you use wood snuff boxes, don't they take on the flavor of the snuff?

    Thanks, Paul

I just figured how to get the Oliver Twists to seal better. Since its soft plastic, you can just bend the sides of the bottom out wider and it seals better.

One problem with the oliver twist boxs not made to hold up for long. They work great as intended but will eventualy break if used as a snuff box over a small period of time. Which having a box break in your pocket can really stink.

the way patrick (onefortheroad) seals his wood boxes seems to prevent the wood from either adding scents to the snuff or taking on scents from the snuff. i've carried mine for better than 6 mo. now and have no complaints.

Yes, Patrick (onefortheroad) snuff boxes are great. I have an oak one I've used almost every day now since I bought it about 10 months ago last November. Still working & looking beautifully. I personally like to pinch from a box rather than use a dispensing hole. If you use a lot of heavy scented snuffs, your best but would be either silver or pewter. Unless you dedicate a wood box only for strong scents.

There are a good number of seasoned snuff boxes available on ebay.

Also silver snuff boxes are great. Look at this link, I have 2 just like PB452 and they are beautiful works of art. Also look at PB520, it has the turn style dispensing hole your interested in. Silver Snuff Boxes.

These are a great style of wood snuff boxes with hinged lid. Hinged Lid Snuff Box

check out these links below along with all the ones on the post of Silver Snuff Box. I can't vouch for these ones as I have not tried these yet. But they do ship worldwide and they do have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. So you can return for any reason.

I really like the one with the hole in the side. I don't like pinching because I make a mess. Guess they beat tic tac containers.

I'm always leery of ones that I can't verify the seal on. At least if you order one from a reputable source you know that you won't have to worry about ending up with a pocket full of snuff at the end of the day.

I like the idea of a dosage hole, but 50 pounds is like how much money now, 100 bucks?

The links I have put above for Snuff Box 1, Snuff Box 2 & Snuff Box 3 are from the same as your first link there on ebay, They do look good & they do have a 100% guarantee.

Also the link you have for the vintage box, that is a super tiny box, 1 1/8 x 7/8 x 3/8. Would only hold about 1/2 hour worth of snuff. But if you like that one you should contact seller and ask how the lid stays shut. It looks like it doesn't have any way to stay closed securely?

And think about ones like PB520, they are sterling silver so they are also an investment.

The German Wood Snuff Boxes have a dispensing hole, that might be something your interested in. Look at comment #8 on the link. They sell these at the SnuffStore, look here

Or you might just consider using a snuff bullet if you don't like to pinch.

fixin2, another thing to consider with a snuff box like the ones onefortheroad makes. If you just slide the lid open slightly, it works like a dispensing hole & allows you to tap some out to the back of hand rather than having to take a pinch.

troutstoker, interestingly I found a bottle company that sells all sorts of vial things. They have plastic pill cases. They have vials for essential oils etc. I had forgot all about the little glass bottles that are like the base of the bullets or..... little tiny bottles like vanilla extract bottles and such. Yes, I do like the idea of just dumping it on the back of my hand. thats the way I have been taking it so far. I am trying to get one from onefortheroad, but he is not very fast on the emails with me. Maybe my emails come to him as spam or something.

I showed my dholakia and toque bullets to a guy at work just before I went to the airport, and he thought I might have probs with the security. But I didn't have problems. I thought the fact the bullets were labeled might help as well. But I think a nice snuff box would be credible. Maybe more so than a bullet. Maybe I need to learn to pinch better without getting my fingers all dirty ... don't like getting my fingers dirty OR since I do often pick my nose anyways, just go ahead and get them dirty and clean them off in my nostrils... is that how people do it? thought I read that on here.

You can just use a piece of paper as a funnel. I wouldn't want one of those boxes you need a funnel to fill unless I could open it and wash it real good and dry it out first though. Who knows what is lurking in there.....

I picked up a pack of Altoids Smalls (peppermint) at Target and got this little can that slides open. I put some WE GARRETT Scotch Snuff in it today. Doesn't seem to leak.

    Viking,

Thats a nice looking snuff box you got there. I like the coin edge it has to give you the grip you need to open it safely.
