would like to share some snuff packing information, must for all snuff users.please note that POLYETHLENE has a very bad barrier for flavors and moisture.so snuff should always be stored in very high quality packing.a coextruded plastic with EVOH is much better.best is metallized plastic.metal is of course good but expensive.
while deciding packing for dholakia international we considered above points and took special care in developing our bullets and containers and also our each bullets and tubs seperately packed in shrink plastic which keeps our snuff flavors fresh and free from deterioration above all keeps our bullets HYGENIC. we also offer refill 50gm metallized plastic economy pack .

Metallized plastic, this is a good idea. Pöschl uses it for their refill packs.. I prefer them, they stay fresh for a long time,
i think clearly longer than the standard containers. But I put my absolutely fresh plastic economy bags in my freezer or a closed glas,
    and thats also no problem.

I think at this point both Toque and Dholakia are both well liked, and well sought after snuffs. I think the two parties have formed a truce, and we should all respect that. Namrata, Toque, we love you both equally!

Way back when, they went back and forth about their bullets from what I remember. It was a few months back, but they love each other now. As a matter of fact, Roderick was quoted telling Namrata that he would take her out if it wasn't for his lovely wife. (This last sentence was a joke, please don't take it seriously as I know someone will )

On the subject, I heard that clay pots are good for storing snuff. I know of a great snuff that is aged in clay pots. In fact I think I will get a clay pot or two for myself to age some snuff in. Does any one have any snuff pots?

I have a porcelain tobabco jar that is pretty good, but I think the main thing is that the container is airtight. The tradition of using clay just pre-dates plastic - it was the only cheap substance to make pots from - but I think plastic does the job just as well as long as its not one of those plastics, like Namrata says, that has a smell of its own. My bulk storage is in old 1/2 pound plastic Wilsons cannisters that keeps the snuff in perfect condition year in year out.

Aren't clay pots porous? Seems like air and moisture would pass through. I guess I'm thinking of the clay pots for plants. Are you referring to some kind of clay pots that are finished with a glazing of some sort, like a ceramic container or tobacco humidor. I've seen some nice ones on ebay.

Seems like a waste of money unless you really want one for the look of the thing, you can use the plastic jars that peanuts come in just as well.
  3.  # 15
I use jars like these for my special snuffs like Spanish Jewel right now and they work wonderfully I hope to purchase more of them soon! Only difference in the jars are that mine are actual glass containers not plastic!

Plastics can emit environmental estrogens. That's why they say not to refill your water bottles. And yes clay is porous but I have a suspicion that allowing tobacco to "breathe" may not be such a bad thing. I'm thinking of a pot in pot system with humidity control between the two pots and a special spoon to fill a smash box with. I've already started a collection of wood boxes to keep snuff tins in. They are like little humidors with pouch moisteners in them. I plan to eventually have an humidified cabinet to keep them in. Accessibility is the key here. For aging I think I will stick to the anaerobic environments. This seems almost impossible without involving some sort of rubber or plastic. What a great hobby we have here. So much to think about.

This is too funny since both Toque and Dholakia snuffs are the worst in the world. Fight it out "competitors" but until you make snuffs that even come close to bearable, keep it to yourselves.

I get mistaken for snuffmiller all the time, but this is the first time anyone's taken me for Roderick. My comment above was intended to be private, but the whisper button doesn't always work right. So I'm editing it out to avoid further "controvercy".

Its not a first, he pops up every now and then and says Toque snuff is no good etc etc then nothing again for months, still he's not abusive and it's as valid an opinion as any other.

wait isn't he the same guy who started the anti-mars post. Probably shill. You can see them on other lists all the time. I was on a music list and there was a guy that would occasionaly jump on having heard the most amazing record last night, seriously everytime he'd post he might as well have said that after hearing the record jesus steped down cause he couldn't hold a candle to the religious experience of the record. Then a few months later he'd pop up again with practicaly the same spontanious review of diffrent record. Turns out all the records where on some small label that really sucked. Oh and he'd also pull a steverino1958 all the time, I don't know why anyone listens to the following bands as they stink. My money is on shill. Probably off the cuff is my bet.

I hear that snuffster, there is nothing wrong with not liking certain brands. Its not like one or two people will ever affect what I call Toque's Cult Following.

Indeed, there isn't dejawu. I'll use this opportunity to come out of my Toque closet and say I'm actually not a big fan of Toque - for me I find the scents do not 'run deep enough' if that makes sense, compared to say a F&T snuff. I also like to mix up my grinds rather than be snuffing the same grind all the time. Find the Toque "love-in" on this forum a bit too much at times (not meaning to make offence here though Roderick).
Although, having said that I do like the espresso very much when it is fresh; and respect that fact that new scents are being released for our benefit.
oh urrm yea errr Polyethelene + Snuff = bad i guess then.
and what's with those weird posts at the top anyway? I'm starting to think it's the polyethelene..

    wikipedia defines a shill as
A shill is an associate of a person selling goods or services or a political group, who pretends no association to the seller/group and assumes the air of an enthusiastic customer. The intention of the shill is, using crowd psychology, to encourage others unaware of the set-up to purchase said goods or services or support the political group's ideological claims. Shills are often employed by confidence artists. In the UK the term plant is also used.

Ironicly enough I agree with some of what you've said Snuffoly. I to think some of the Toque flavors are not strong enough, and being part of the Toque's testing panel, I have expressed that. Some of them though are perfect, such as the Peanut Butter, Raspberry, just to name two. I personally love strong flavors in my snuff and would love for some to be stronger. The 'Cult Following' I speak of, I believe goes beyond this though. First Roderick is a great guy, who cares about his customers and as you said produces snuff for our benefit. He is easy to get a hold of and talk to. His customer service is by far one of the best out there, and most can account for that. So I do believe he has a "love-in" or "Cult Following" as I said before.

snuffolly I don't understand the degree of adulation that toque gets. Don't get me wrong I love toque but I really don't feel toque is head and shoulders above other snuff companies. I feel they are another great snuff company that offers a unique product that has created it's own place in the market. I must say I like toque as much as I like wilsons but I like diffrent things about Toque then I like about wilsons. This is what I love about snuff though my moods and taste change through out a day. Often toque is my morning snuff for example. I think that Toque will become less wildly raved about (still raved about though) once it isn't such a new company. All that said there are a few companies that are part of my regular rotation (in no particular order, wilsons Fribourg and treyer, toque, and dholakia) I must have at least of few of each to be happy.

It is always fun to learn a new word. i had to look up shill before I got down to the definition posted by bob.

Social networking sites and forum members are for the most part way too savvy for shills to have much effect imho. We all kinda know who we are here and respect one another's opinions, so when someone pops up with some nasty with no real justification for it (ie a thorough review explaining what he or she likes and doesn't like about a particular flavor/grind/brand etc) I am pretty confident nobody takes it seriously. And what is REALLY nice about this forum is that even when a shill does appear he/she is treated in a very respectful manner and is not 'flamed' or denigrated too much. Mostly just ignored.

    Kudos to Alex.
