From now on, you can find a Snuff List in the articles section.
I will continuously update it and hints on missing snuffs are welcome. I gathered the snuff names from different sources, mainly producer websites. Some are coming from Andy's website.
Yes, Ntsu is made by MLP, whoever that is. I wasted quite a bit of time trying to find out what MLP stands for, and even emailed the South African tobacco shop I bought it from, and couldn't get any answers.
Let's ask Filek what he thinks of the Ntsu; I know he just got some. :-)
Just so's you know, the Tranter snuffs are actually all made by Wilson's. I thought the flavor names looked awfully familiar, so I asked the folks at Cigar Connoisseur about it. They confirmed my suspicion.
While I'm at it, most of the F&T's in the list can't be had without a time machine. ;-) All but a few were discontinued after Wilson's took over the production some 20 years ago.
...the Tranter snuffs are actually all made by Wilson's. Are they the same recipes?
And now the big question: what are Craftsman snuffs, and where can I get some? Filek told me: Craftsman Snuffs is from England, but that's the only thing I know about it. Perhaps it's a producer like "Smith & Sons" that has his own shop in London.
"While I'm at it, most of the F&T's in the list can't be had without a time machine." Yes you are right, there is no chance to get some of those snuffs in present. But I like to see a nice list of 'past and present' ;) I'm also going to add snuffs from J&H Wilson and a lot of them are 'gone with the wind'...
"Are they made by Sears? " What's Sears? ;P
"what are Craftsman snuffs, and where can I get some?" I've found a small fragment in a book called "All About Snuff and Snuff Taking". -"Craftsman Snuffs - exclusive to A.I.T.S. members shops" Does someone know what's A.I.T.S.?
Sears is a department store here in the United States. They have appliances, clothing, perfumes, jewelry, tools, etc. Craftsman is a brand of tools (power tools, hand tools, etc.) that is available only through Sears. They are VERY high quality tools, and I believe they have a lifetime guarantee.
AITS is the Association of Independent Tobacco Specialists, an English pipe-shop organization. McGahey's is a member, so I'll ask Martin about Craftsman.
You're welcome to use the lists at the Snufftalk site if you like. The Americans list is missing at least a couple-- there's one called "Red Seal" that isn't in there and another one that's cherry-flavored. The Dean Swift list is pretty complete, as far as I know.
As to the MLP, I asked the proprietor at Wesley's, where I got the Ntsu from, and he didn't know who they were either.
The American list at Snufftalk isn't good enough in my opinion. You added all those snuff as one producer and you didn't mention if it's a snuff from Swisher or Conwood Company or something else.
Only 12 Dean Swift's?! I don't believe in that. A producer from England should have 30-40 snuff's. Do you know how old is that company? :)
from what i know dean swift has been around for a while. The few kinds I tried were terrible, poor quality. however ive been told that swift used to be much higher quality then what it is now.
Filek: Regarding the American snuffs, I have heard and obeyed you. You will now find them arranged by manufacturer. Look for Conwood, Swisher, and USST.
Regarding the Dean Swift, I have not been able to ascertain who makes them, and so have no way of knowing if there are more types available anywhere. The brand has only been around for 25 years or so.
