Sometimes I get an inflamed sinus and it is hell. The other night I took some fine snuff and it plugged me up bad. Some blends do this to me for some reason. The normal lay-on the side trick didn't work, the neti pot didn't work, I was most uncomfortable. I would try to snort in air and make all kinds of horn-swaggle noises. Then I applied slight pressure with my thumb just on the side of the "nose bone", hell I don't know what it's called, the middle bridge-ridge thingie. After a few seconds - like magic, it just opened up. Something to try.

Are nasal sprays addictive in the sense that they give you a buzz or something? I've only used one a couple of times when I had a cold etc. I know what its like to get hooked on meds as I spent a long while taking narcotics for a back injury from making an arrest, all drugs are hard to come off but its a problem that can be cracked given time and determination. I can remember writhing in pain coming off morphine, the full junky deal, but after a month of sleeping and feeling like shit I got off the stuff and haven't looked back.

I think if you really take snuff heavily you are in danger of messing up your sinuses as it can be over indulged just like anything else and I've certainly done that before. I've now got my snuff use down to the point that I take several pinches a day, really enjoy each one, but have long periods in the day when I don't indulge. A good blow of the scnozz every once in a while sorts me out. Basically, if you can snuff for enjoyment rather than addiction, it the best place to be.

I would advise all snuffers to use menthol only in moderation, it can really backfire on you and for me its just the occasional pinch now.

I snuff BECAUSE I am addicted to nicotine! I have snuffed turmeric though and have thought of flavoring a snuff with it but it didn't sit well in the nose. Then again neither does cardamom yet I have a nice snuff with that in it. Sifted cayenne In very small amounts mixed with snuff seems like a good idea as well. Foods that will thicken and increase mucus are milk, wheat, beans, corn, peanuts, and then some can be avoided. I suppose food allergens are the culprit. As for Mentholated snuffs...Once a night, is enough. Try a peppermint snuff. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Nasal sprays are addictive because they give you instant relief, but the down side is once they wear off, your back where you started, 10 fold!
They simply remove the symptom temporarily.
So you take another sniff, and ahhhh, you can breathe great for another eight hours, and the cycle begins.
Plus, the method in which they "clean you out" is not a natural one, and causes your sinus to say WTF is going on here? And basically go into revolt!!
I am breathing great now. I've removed menthols from my rotation and making an attempt to keep the snuff in the front of my nose.
PLus a Nette pot every night b4 bed really helps.

Thanks guys, I had no idea of this stuff. I'm addicted to nicotine as well and dip and chew as well, but after a long while of trying I've just found that I can moderate somewhat and not be the slave to it I was in past. Personally, I love nicotine, its just one of those things thats best controlled a bit though.
