Gawith’s Blue Crest is one of three “Crests” offered by the company, the others being Yellow and Red. The snuff is not, sadly, blue; I’d like to see a blue snuff one day but would probably be afraid to try it. This snuff is actually a pleasant light reddish-brown, and has a fluffy medium texture.

The moisture level is medium. The grind is even, unlike Blue Crest’s close relative McCombie. The fluffiness of the texture makes grabbing a large pinch easy, a characteristic of some snuffs for which I am always grateful. (Trying to get a human-sized dose of, say, F&T HDT always requires several pinches for me, due to its dustlike fineness.)

The flavor is quite plain and pleasing, resembling toasted nuts. It fades very quickly, making the next pinch come sooner than it might had this snuff a more persistent aroma. To me, that’s a good thing. If you like perfumes that you can detect the next day, this snuff is not for you.

Blue Crest has a medium nicotine level and would be difficult to overdose on, as the absorption level is lowered a little by the texture. It’s very kind to the nose and has little burning effect. Perfectly suitable for the beginning snuffer and for all-day use.
