The Schmalzlerfranzl Doppelt Fermentiert Brasil was the first of the Bernards’ line that I encountered, and the introduction was so impressive that I set out to sample all the Bernard Brother’s offerings.
This snuff is a very dark brown and has a gritty, almost crystalline character. It’s moistened with oil rather than water and has the feel of medium moisture even though, in a strict sense, it’s quite dry. It can be left in the open air, uncovered, without any untoward consequences, unlike water-moistened snuffs.
The flavor is of two stages: the first note is of maple and vanilla and is sweet. Following closely after is a slightly bitter, complex herbal aroma with traces of juniper. The sweetness and the herbaceousness never quite combine into one aroma, but remain separate. The aromas are not terribly clingy and fade away evenly after ten minutes or so.
The nicotine content is a bit stealthy. The flavor doesn’t lead one to think of this schmalzler as being very potent, but the level is actually quite respectable— medium or a little higher.
The box, with its quaint picture of schmalzler-loving Little Franz and his handlebar moustache, is of the pouring style and has a sliding cover over the hole rather than the plug closure on finds on Pöschl boxes.
This is a good choice for an all-day snuff, as it’s easy on the nose and hard to over-sniff due to its density.
Well, I wouldn`t agree with your opinion of Doppelt-Fermentiert as an all-day snuff. I think it`s actually a quite "heavy" snuff, as all Schmalzlers. Even though, it`s a delicious, dark, traditional snuff. It reminds me Poschl`s Bayern-Prise a bit. I like the plum/coffe/tobacco aroma, but I treat this one rather as an interlude in snuff taking, not every day`s choice.
Please, correct my mistakes if I made some, I`m still learning english ;)

I think your English is very fine, but I am a German and might not be the one to judge that. :D Hehe, it`s good to hear that. Greetings from planet Poland, I hope I`ll stay here for some longer time ;) By the way, you wouldn`t like to hear my german, I`m pretty sure it would begin a war or something :D Well, as I don`t want this post to be just an off-topic, I`ll add a little photo of Bernard`s Doppel-Fermentiert:
Thanks for your observations, Juszi. I hope we can agree to disagree; I have used this as an all-day snuff on occasion, but then I like strong snuffs. A matter of taste, I'm sure. Glad to meet you, by the way!
By the way, you wouldn`t like to hear my german, I`m pretty sure it would begin a war or something :D I am sure it's better than my Polish, as I don't speak a word.
Thanks for the picture. Source: Rajek (for the copyright)
You can get tons of the Bernard snuffs through Rajek's, including this one (and many other schmalzlers). The shipping is a bit expensive, so when I order from them I usually make it a good order just every once in a while. They have many many snuffs and snuff related items for sale that you can't find anywhere else on the interweb. Sometimes I spend a good chunk of time just browsing their site and putting things into my wish list for my next order from them. They even sell McChrystals O&G in 200g tubs! If you've never visited their site, I recommend you do so at once.
