For the last few months on my free time (which isn't much) I have been working on a new website for snuff reviews. Now I know there are a few out there already, many of which gave me some inspiration. The only problem with most of them is one person fills out the reviews which would be very hard being there is so many brands out there to review. What I did was go a different route and make my site fully dynamic. Anyone with an account can write reviews and even add a snuff item that might not be in our database. So I hope everyone will sign up and start adding reviews. If all goes well in a little while we will all have access to a great site with tons of reviews that will not only be helpful to you guys, but very helpful to the new snuff user that needs to know what to try first! I remember how I used to look for and read tons of reviews before I placed an order.
Also to promote our grand opening I would like to announce a contest. The person that write the most reviews in the first month will get the grand prize! The prize is one 10 gram tin of each of Toque's products! This will include the new flavors that aren't even on sale yet! You will be getting 16 ten gram tins!!! So please everyone head on over to the site and start reviewing. Keep in mind it isn't complete yet, and I need users to test things out. SO please send me and comments, suggestions, or ideas you may have.

Thank you, a lot of my inspiration came from me starting out with snuff. I would search through a couple of different sites trying to get reviews. So I hope this will be good for old users and new users alike!

First way is to click reviews button on the top left, then click the company name, finally the item name. Also if you are logged in, there is a user menu on the left side of the screen. Click My Reviews and that will show you all the reviews you have entered!

Thanks for the good comments guys, I worked hard on this. Mind you I have a full time job that keeps me pretty busy, sometimes up to 54 hours a week. So this was a free time project that I knew would come in handy for all. Remember any ideas, comments, errors, please let me know by emailing me or using the contact page!

but i strongly recommend 1) a feature that would show you which snuffs actually have reviews and 2) a feature that chrnologically shows you which snuffs got new reviews.
i really like how www.tobaccoreviews.com works. great design, very easy to find everything and no nonsense. -
I'd love to see all reviews include a standard questionnaire form in addition to a commentary. A searchable database could thus be assembled ranking all for factors like - size of grind, moisture content, quality and duration of scent, quality of base tobacco, nicotine effects, sneeziness, head rush, and clogging. Perhaps there are other standard factors worth tracking. It would also help if reviewers assigned a numerical score of their overall satisfaction. I also recommend offering some kind of prize for the most lucid review commentary. This will encourage review writers to work a little harder and not just rehash a description from the maker. Ive joined up and put a review on there for my love of the moment, toque vanilla. I hope the site does well, maybe it could be made a bit more pleasing on the eye in due course?

What a great project you have started dejawu! This is a great addition to the growing snuff community and I think it goes without saying that this is most definitely a WELCOME addition. Aside from the forums here, I haven't found anywhere else that offers good unbiased reviews. I feel it is key to allow multiple reviews of one snuff type because it gives a much larger spectrum of opinions and thus decreases any one way bias you might find elsewhere.
I agree with stitch on the organizational matter. A standard questionnaire would allow users to search for snuffs based on their likes and dislikes, grind, scent/flavor, nicotine content, and perhaps even rating.. It would also make it easier to compare snuffs side by side. That said, I still think what has been done already is fantastic and if it goes unchanged I can't complain.. At least we have a good database started. -

@Stitch: Some great ideas you have there and some of them are already implemented but they haven't been incorporated yet. So far each item does have a spot for labeling its Grind and Moisture as well as a description that is separate from user reviews.
@Snuffster: I'll tell you, I can code with the best of them but my entire life I always lacked one thing, creativity! I don't mean creativity when it comes to thinking of ideas for site. I mean creativity when it comes to making a site look good. I have coded many sites over the years and what I usually do is do all the coding and leave the design to someone else. You've got to know where your weakness lies and be willing to get help with it. So maybe I will recruit a designer someday!
@Ziggy: Thanks for the complements. I really like the fact that you said even if it goes unchanged it would by fine. That makes me feel great about what has been done so far. Not to worry though I will be adding more and more all the time!

Well a lot has happened in just four days! I just wanted to thank all of you who are contributing to the site, as you can see it is doing great! Over 260 reviews in the first four days, I couldn't be happier. Anyone who hasn't had a chance to join yet, I hope we will see you over there soon. Keep on reviewing guys we are building quite the database. Also I am in the process of getting more prizes for future contests, so like I said keep it up!

he stayed up for 94 hours and sniffed a differnt snuff at each turn of the hand. I was waiting for trouts reviews. -

Ha LOL, if I did that I would of either died from nicotine poisoning or my heart would have exploded. I just had a rare 2 days where I was home the whole time and when it got too dark to be doing yard work I just decided to pour a bourbon & start adding reviews. Some from memory, and some I had written down. Some I just had to look at the tin & smell the tin aroma and they came back to memory as if I just took a pinch. There were a few I had to revisit entirely but thats all part of the fun. Still have quite a few more to go but they will have to come later, slowly added. -
