this thread may already exist but i havent seen it in the few months ive been here and i am curious. i know the europeans will generally have snuffed longer but nasal snuff has been virtually unheard of in the states for the last few generations and a few of us gifted have discovered it largely due to the internet.

i started around three and a half years ago, quitting ciggerettes overnight ad havent turned back since.

i am also wondering if the florals will evr grow on me as it seems the more experienced seem to like them alot.

    they still sicken me.

ive also noticed that people frm the uk seem to have a huge tolerance for menthol.

Started using it part time in between oral tobacco use about 15 years ago. And have been full time snuffer about 10 years. Quit full time use of Copenhagen snuff in 2001 and now just use the moist lip snuff on occasion and loose leaf chew a few times a week.

If you like the McChrystals Hop snuff, that is actually a floral snuff.

ejacerooni, one food I can't stand is Tuna Casserole. I like tuna & I like casseroles, but when you put them together, dear god!!!!

I think boiled rat is worse than tuna casserole

Been snuffing on and off (mostly off) for about 25 years, but only regularly since the UK smoking ban in July 07

you've had boiled rat? All I've got to say is your cook is either terrible or makes a great tuna casserole.

I've not been snuffing long at all, only about 2 months now. I've built up quite a collection in that time & have a list of favourites I order regularly. I still like to try new flavours from time to time. I have never been a smoker.

As for people in the UK liking Menthol snuffs; I hate menthol snuffs! LOL When I first started taking snuff alot of online sources in the UK told me to try menthol so I did and initially quite liked it. After a while though I found many unpleaseant side effects with Menthol that I did not get with other snuffs.

McChrystals O&G (a very popular snuff) made my nose runny & sore on some days then clogged me up on others and almost always caused excess drainage at the back of my throat which got so bad I was having to get out of bed three times a night to hack, cough and blow my nose trying to clear the snot...no good at all. I then stopped using menthol snuffs altogether. My father-in-law is an occasional snuffer & he hates menthol too. I used to like Gawith Apricot but after I started getting trouble with menthol snuffs I noticed the subtle menthol content in the Apricot so I stopped using that too.

I love floral snuffs so Fribourg & Treyer are firm favourites for me.

I've been snuffing for about 2 1/2 years now. I still have the occasional cigarette but not very often at all.

Well my first snuff was about a week ago and I was left with a tin of Gletscherprise to greedily inhale until my first order came in. I've been taking snuff more regularly since the order came in on Monday though. I've used many different types of tobacco though for the last few years.. I'll be 21 in a couple months, so I suppose much of my tobacco use has been somewhat experimental. I'll tell you what though, I'm not big on smoking all that much but I found out last night that a hookah packed with some subtle fruit or mint tobacco in combination with a good snuff can make for a VERY pleasing experience.

my first steps in snuff have been about 8 years ago.. (damn, i am old..) but then i only snuffed very occasionally and even had a phase for three years o so where i did not snuff a single time (i think, maybe a max of three times or so). then i suddenly had the urge to snuff nearly a year ago and since then snuff a few times a week.

menthol: that also seems to be a german thing. everyone i know off snuffs mentholated snuffs only and its nearly imposssible to find unmentholated snuffs outside of highly specialised tobacconists. german snuff is all poeschl and poeschl is, as you know, the menthol empire. so maybe germany is more menthol even than britain..?

I started snuffing "part time" back in college (late '70s-early '80s) then dropped it when I got out. Started again "full time" a little over a year ago, to quit smoking. For the record, I'm from the US, and my usage is about 70% menthols to 30% non-menthols. I do occationally get into "floral moods" so I always have some GH Jasmine or something on hand. Let's just say there are no florals in my top 10 rotation.
    Cheers,
    Java

On and off about 12 years (but started again couple months ago after a long break- I really like to smoke pipes, and take SNUS sometimes, too...a cigar maybe once a month or so...). I've never tried a schmalzler...isn't it a mixture of some other plant and tobacco? I have tried betel nut...

I can't stand menthol snuff- but I do like President a LOT these days. I also find that the O&G is the only thing that will unclog my nose in the morning or at night. Royal George is awesome- my sister-in-law loves it. I love the almondy smell. Sometimes snuffs make me think of a color- Royal George makes me think of Purple.

o if we are going when i first tryed snuff snuffed a lil bit 3 years ago but then lost the thing of old president i had found in my frat. then never knew where to get it, so stayed on the cigs.
i guess boiled rat is one way to pass a health inspection. "the inspector is coming today" "really shit quick ketch those rats we now have the special for tonight"
