I love Taxi Blue too! It's not just a flavor but an aroma that it sports. Being course, it's easy to snuff, but the tobacco is so soft. When my nose begins to run it runs dark. My wife once asked me if I had a nosebleed. The blow is nice and clean and the aroma remains and is also enjoyed in the lungs. As far as nicotine goes I have decided that there is no need to turn to taxi Red for more. The higher nic of Taxi Red seem to interfere with the flavor factors so it's Taxi Blue for me. This is my morning regular and because I leave it at home I will go strait to it when I get there. I can't wait to try the Taxi Rock. If it's base is similar to Taxi Blue then it's sure to be a winner!
axi is excellent. to dry just walk around with it in your pocket all day. still in container. it will lose most of the excss moisture; rather quick. i think it is made like this due to the heat and climate of south africa.
I have some Taxi Red and I agree it is HORRIBLE to use as snuff. I can't stand it- tastes and smells terrible- much rather use SNUS if I was to use it nasally. I tried drying and regrinding to salvage it. Still terrible- going in the trash...
I did the same thing with my taxi red. I was so excited to try it out when I first heard about it. When I got it and finally tried it I hated it! So I tried to dry it out a little and grind it down with my mortar. It still wasn't snuffable, so I kept it for a while trying it everyday hoping for some change. It ended up in the garbage, it was the first and only snuff I had to throw away so far.
I was in the Taxi Red hating camp but today I opened the tin I have had sitting in my drawer for maybe six months and was looking at a completely different snuff. It is light brown, has almost no moisture and I think its volume has halved since I last looked at it. Now its pretty nice, it is so dry you can sort of crush it a little in your fingers whilst sprinkling on the wrist. Quite tasty now, a simple, strong tobacco smell and I can succesfully get it in my nose rather than all over the desk/floor. I may actually finish this now!
This snuff is dirt cheap in Africa for a reason...It's like the Bugler or GPC cigarette tobacco of Snuff...I've let some of mine age and it still has a cheap dirty flavour. Sorry guys, I honestly can't find anything good about this stuff and as far as being strong...well smell isn't everything! I can't feel any difference in nicotine strength and I challenge them to prove their claim against an American Snuff.
I don't understand the confusion of it being for the lip or nose. I mean it's pretty obvious that garrett sweet and mild is made for the nose, but I like it in the lip as well. But then I like cope in the lip but I would never try it in the nose. I don't care if George Weyman himself told me to put it there. I guess I need to get some but I am not really looking for a new lip dip so I'll take your word for it Trout and leave it to the others to snuff. Maybe if somebody can post a pic of the actuall snuff I would have a better idea.
TAXI is a "common" snuff in SA, and very cheap. I never even thought of buying it until I came to this forum and realised that it's available overseas. Now I use it regularly. I blend Taxi Blue with Taxi Rock Spearmint and it's nice. I also blend Taxi Blue with Magnet Peach and that is a different story. Once I start on it, I can't stop. I don't "pinch" it, I take LARGE amounts and shove it up my nose. Gentlemen, do yourself a favour and try it!! I do not like Taxi Red though. To me, it does not have the fruity flavour I taste in the Blue. And , of course, I buy lots of this very cheap snuff to get hold of the containers. The plastic box is strongly made and seals pretty well. As I never snuff in public and do not have any snuffing companions, the looks don't bother me. I often discard the older snuff when I open new containers which I need as snuff boxes.
I love the Taxi snuffs up my nose. It takes a little getting used to the size of the grind. Once your on to it you can get quite a bit up there. I've been able to keep it in for a little longer without blowing, but once I clear my nose there is still a full tobacco aroma to enjoy. I like the way the tin says "causes cancer". This leaves little doubt in my mind that I am addicted!
I just got some taxi rock and tried it in the nose and lip. I like the nose better. It is vary deferent. Does anybody know if this is an African style of tobacco. Are there other African tobaccos? By the way never use cope in the nose. It will rip you a new one.
